HNY everyone. I hope ya'll had a good and safe one.
and... Hello, John. Couplle of queries...
Q1) Do you want to loop a single track or multiple tracks?
Do you simply want to loop to practice to or do you want the repetitions to be part of the song/project?
A1) With Snap enabled select a range in the Time Ruler (right click and drag across the measures you want to loop) the Right Click on the Time Ruler, select "Set Loop Points". The selected range will now show a yellow line flanked by upward arrows at the start and end point of the Loop Region (you can click and drag them to adjust the length of your loop region). Use the L key on your keyboard to enable/disable looping.
A2) If you want material to repeat within the project (as in you want a drum beat or bass line to repeat "x" number of measures but you only have one measure (or any period of time you want to repeat but best to use measures for general beat/groove looping to test it out) then you need to create "Groove Clips" (for audio) or "MIDI Groove Clips" (for MIDI).
Without knowing exactly what you want to do here's the basics. Split or Crop the Audio or MIDI Clip at/to the boundaries of the section you want to loop. Then simply select the clip/section you want to "loop", Right Click on the Clip and select "Groove Clip Looping" or press Ctrl + L on your keyboard (that keybinding is shown in the Right Click Context Menu if you forget).
Once you have done this your regular audio or MIDI clip is now a "Groove Clip" and if you drag out the edges of the clip it will repeat for however long you drag it out for. It will also obey tempo changes (and other stuff).
There is actually a whoooole bunch more that could be said and explored but try that to see if it gets you where you want to be. This can also be done across tracks by multi select or even grouping the clips and there are tons of tools and rendering options to screw with if one requires.
More detail might be needed to know exactly whether the fancier stuff needs to be dug into.
Also... this post should give you a bunch of good SONAR specific buzzwerdz so you can hunt around the manual and learn more.
Cheers.
Edit: Foiled again by my own verbosity. lol
