Converting Clip To Step Sequencer Is Changing Duration Values

Hello,

I am not sure if this is by design, but I just played a little piece and converted it to the step sequencer by choosing "Convert MIDI Clips To Step Sequencer", and it put the notes in, but increased the length of each 16th note to last over the entire 16th.   I have my PPQN set to 96 so a quarter is 24 ticks.  My notes are 4 ticks long, but once I convert to the SS, the notes are 24 ticks long.

Any help is appreciated.

Thank You

When you convert to a step sequence, you have a choice of resolutions but "none" isn't one of them. I assume the design decision is that if you're using the step sequencer, you want predictability. If you want to go outside the box, you use the PRV.

well resolution is for timing of note-on messages.  I am talking about duration.   I don't see why it can't keep the note duration in tact.  Instead it keep the note-on message for the entire length of the step.

A step sequencer's primary mission in life is to trigger one-shot samples like drums where the duration doesn't matter. I'm sure there are exceptions, but I don't think you'll find too many step sequencers, hardware or software that store variable durations. Why convert from a normal MIDI clip if you want normal MIDI clip behavior?
