New install - All Cakewalk Content Missing
I don't know if this the right place for this question. If not, please move it. I just built a new computer and wanted to do a completely clean install of everything. There was only one HDD, the C: drive, in the box. After installing SPlat, I noticed that there were no PC presets available. After checking I found that there was nothing under C: Cakewalk Content! The folder was completely empty. Checking my old computer I see that "Cakewalk Content" has lots of files in it going all the way back to Sonar 8.3. Thinking that maybe the Command Center put everything under "Cakewalk Content" because the older Sonar installs were there, I searched my new C: drive for files that were under "Cakewalk Content" on the old machine. Nothing! No PC presets, no Arpeggiator Patterns, no Drum Replacer, no nothing! Now granted, on my old machine I had multiple drives and I had moved much of this content to another drive. But during the new SPlat install there was just the one HDD in the box. The Command Center install path shows C: Cakewalk Content. So where is everything? Any thoughts or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Click the gear icon -- at the upper-right of the Command Center window. Check "paths" to see your data locations. Can you transplant the drive with the CW content from the old PC to the new one? Then all you have to do is change the path to reflect the second drive.

Have you tried to load a preset from the Pro channel ? My PC presets are stored in: C:\Cakewalk Content\SONAR Platinum\ProChannel Presets I also have another folder with PC presets in it here: C:\Cakewalk Content\SONAR X1 Producer\ProChannel Presets I believe the latter folder is for reverse engineering purposes. Hope this helps. CB

Thanks Jon. As I said, the install path in CCC is "C: Cakewalk Content". With only one HDD it doesn't have another choice and that folder is empty. Yes, I can just copy everything from my old setup but I was wanting to do a fresh, clean install. And more importantly, why didn't the CCC install anything in the C: Cakewalk Content folder? Where is it if not there? Thanks for the reply. Paul

As I can't roll back, should I just delete Sonar and reinstall? I guess I could copy the 'roll back' files from my old system... On the other hand, I'm not sure that rolling back and then forward again would accomplish anything. What I seem to be missing is the content from the installer. Is there a way to make the CCC re-download the current files? Thanks guys. Paul

yes, click the gear icon as mentioned by jon (to make sure its going to C/cake content) Then open up command center and re install sonar. I wouldn't even bother uninstalling, simply install over the previous install. More cakewalk content can be found in the form of loops, exc. but I would first install sonar again.

Thanks Chuck. When I reopened the CCC to check the path there didn't appear to be a 'reinstall' option. It simply says "Launch". I'll check it again. Paul

you try right clicking on it ? if theres nothing in the right click menu, I would navigate to the: C/program data/roaming/cakewalk/commandcenter/downloads and find the installer. its in there. reinstall using the raw installer. it will work.

Thanks Chuck. I copied all the previous installers from my old drive and rolled back to 10-16. I then started to reinstall the various components under "Sonar". Interestingly enough, even though they all showed 'Green' in the Command Center, they all reinstalled and placed folders into the C: Cakewalk Content folder. Not all of the folders installed so I copied the rest from my old system. This is very interesting.... I then rolled forward to 12-16. I won't know for sure if everything works until I get it all installed. Question: Is there a way to change the folder where Sonar looks for the ProChannel Presets? Seems like, no mater where I place them, Sonar always defaults to the same place, (not where I relocated the PC presets). Thanks. Paul

There is a registry hack that will allow you to change the default folder location (not sure but Scook knows it) but for me its always been about where that folder is when I click the load preset button in the sonar PC module header.

Thanks Chuck. that makes the most sense. Paul
