Celtic Starise- The Second Wind
I've been out for awhile...I had prostate cancer. Hopefully I'm out of the woods now so to speak, I am finally recording some more. I played out over Christmas, but this is the first recording I've made since my episode. I also have a youtube video of the song. https://soundcloud.com/starise/celtic-starise-the-second-wind

This is well composed! I love how you weave the inconstant rhythm with the overlapping counterpoint. Most of the composers on this site pay way to little attention to rhythm. It keeps up the listeners attention. Loved it!

First off, and most importantly, welcome back! I love your music and appreciate its subtlety and feel. I'm a sucker for Irish music. And your piece is very well conceived as far as instrumental balance is concerned . I'd look at your mandolin? timing, occasionally it's off the beat just a hair, I think. Check 1:10 - 1:20, I think the violin holds the rhythm but the mandolin could use editing a little. great composition, happy returns! -Tom

Thanks Wookie. I'm optimistic about the future! eph221- Thank you! Thank you James! Glad to be back Tom! I'm one of those guys that has a tough time deciding if a thing sounds naturally played or just plain bad. My wife also pointed the timing issues out to me. I heard them but I had hoped no one else would notice. I reworked some of it and hopefully I removed many of those errors. I didn't specifically look at the place you mentioned yet, but I will. I forget the term that describes a modification of the beat in live playing...syncopation? A drummer might better remember..I commonly do that, but this time I over did that too much. See what happens when we don't use loops :) Thank you Andy! I go back later this week to see if I need any further treatment. I hope not.OH SHOOT- I was supposed to get you some audio. I will do that now that I've remembered. My apologies.

Hey, Tim, absolutely no problem whatsoever dood... You have had a lot on your plate. I didn't do anything more with that track but that doesn't mean that I have forgotten about it, so if you still want to provide more audio then that's fine. Just as soon as you are ready, message me from SoundCloud. No rush... Take your time and get your higher priority stuff out of the way first. Cheers, and best wishes, andy

Tim, if you keep writing like this I may jump into the Celtic pool, myself. Hope you're fully recovered now. Music has wonderful healing powers, and songs like this can't help but make you feel better.

I wondered where you had gone, I truly wish you well and hope it is now resolved. I sadly lost my music teacher who was also a good friend to it in 2015. Love the piece and how the instruments intertwine with each other :)

Wow... hopefully the past is the past. Good to see ya back, Tim! I could be wrong, but I think this sounds like you. I like the way you've passed the melody around, works nicely. Mix sounds great too, clear and spacious. Oh, and the title? Perfect.
