Suggestions for backing track..drums
Hi...I want to record "Before you Accuse Me" (acoustic) and asking for help being my first go at doing an acoustic blues track. Any suggestions please on what drum backing track might be good: tempo/bpm, time signature...etc. Likely using Session Drummer or Addictive. Thanks

I think it would depend on what other instrumentation you were going to use.
You might want to find a basic shuffle/swing beat in AD or Session Drummer you like and figure out which tempo works best for you, then record your basic tracks to that.
Then you can build on that; add whatever other tracks you want and tweak your drum track (fills, breaks, etc.).
You might decide in the end to not use any drums at all, but if you record to the drum track then your performance will be on the money tempo-wise, and, on the other hand, you might decide to go with a full blown production. Either way you're covered.

Thanks . You read my mind in thinking about recording to a track, to stay on tempo, but then not use it ( the plan is just two main tracks...guitar and vocal). But a nice subtle drum track may be nice even though the style is acoustic blues. I am finding that just matching a drum clip at the songs designated tempo may or may not match the "cadence" of how the song is performed

Yeah, for some reason there doesn't seem to be a lot of "bluesable" drum clips in either SD or AD. Maybe you could do something basic in the Step Sequencer that would work for you. Put 8 cells per measure in the sequencer and mess with it until you come up with something that works for you.

I only have the Studio Rock pack in AD2, but there's a 'bundle blues groove' with 11 variants that could be useful. It has the right kind of shuffle feel.

just use the Metronome and change the type of sound it produces for your taste as a timeline to record the guitar first...then match drums to it....our better yet get a drummer on board. getting those patterns correct on the fly if a novice(?) can get frustrating quickly.....but maybe that's all overkill for your needs ;-) But practice with it all will get ya there eventually....just depends on your main intention ;-) hope it comes together quick for ya

I might try Drums on Demand who have some good packs I have used for other stuff ---- I was thinking next about the step sequencer route to come up with what I need. Of all the hokey things to try, I listened to a drum only Karaoke track on-line for this very song (at BPM 106), and it did have the right combination and timing of hits that I am looking for. But I should be able to come up with it in these ways we've been discussing. Thanks gang for your feedback. I hope you might check out a few tunes on my music links....
