SOLVED-What the heck does "update All" do in CCC ?

EDIT Jan 10 2017- OK so what it does is only update the Plugs and VST's for the version selected. It does not update the Version.

I've clicked it a few times and when all is said in done it didn't update diddly squat?
I just did this with Platinium on my Laptop. My version was 22.10 so I hit update all and after it ran I'm still 22.10. SO I'm just re doing it all again but this time It didn't have the "update all" icon, just the "update".

I sort of assumed that "update all" would bring everything to do with Plat up to date.

It updates all products you own on the list for which there are available updates for
so you can update them all in one go.

Well That's what I would have thought, but it never does for me. I've clicked it a few times now and then and I'm lucky if it updates the shown product. Lot's of red spots afterwards. Oh well, doesn't matter really.

update all doesn't work either for me as well.  When a sonar update happens...usually documentation, etc needs updating also.  Even when other stuff had the "yellow light"... ALWAYS had to do them individually.  Update all is a placebo  ;-D

Well as usual, I'm glad it's not just me,  we all suffer abuse together around here :)

I try and download everything to my laptop and keep it up to date. I back that to a external drive and transfer over to the main DAW.  So an "update all" that actually worked would be dandy.  I'm still using October on my main DAW but I keep my laptop up to date. Half the time I never even run the version that's on it as I only use it a few times a year for live recordings. But I just want to see those light go green.
Another bug a boo that is sort of annoying-

I hide a bunch of stuff I'm not interested in like loops. I see they can be retrieved from the options page. But you can't hide some stuff. I started with Professional and upgraded. My version of Professional and all it's content take up a lot of the list. Every time ccc opens it expands Professional and it's list and not the Platinum's list. There's no option to hide Professional, only install or delete files!  That sounds scary, What happens there?  I guess I've got nothing to loose buy ditching it completely. It was from Summer 2015. Good stable DAW but I'll never use it. And there must be a way to get it back on the CCC list.
What's with this too-  you update something and when done you go to return to CCC list and it takes almost 5 minutes because it's checking all this stuff again.  It even checks the stuff I hid.
Well enough belly aching.
Other than these seemingly minor bug a boos I like the way it works now
It's snowing hard so time to get some fresh air and shovel the walks...again..

Same for me, guys! It would be nice if it worked. If it is not useable, why not get it off the list?

It's been awhile since I've tried Update All and do remember it NOT updating ALL.  However, I just wanted to say  updating isn't supposed to do anything with the red spots.  These are software NOT installed.  Available updates are shown by yellow spots.

Red flagged products are not for you as you don't own them.
They are there so you can see what is available for purchase though.

Those that are yellow are available for update. And FWIW, has always worked for me though
I don't think I've actually done an update all since early last spring.

i think red flag are/can be for products you do own but have not installed, or products you do own and have installed, but not via ccc, or installed prior to them being made compatible with ccc. rapture, dim pro for example i have owned for ever, and when they became ccc compatible they started showing up in ccc flagged with the red dot even though they were owned by me and installed. the red flag stayed until i installed/updated to the ccc compatible version via ccc. plus rapture session i believe i own being a platinum owner/lifetime member (?) and it shows as red because i haven't installed it, as i own rapture pro full

Red is products you own that are not installed on that computer.
My Professional used to be yellow because it was out of date, Now it is red because I uninstalled it.
And Home Studio is Red on the computers I didn't install it on.
If you don't own a product it will not show in CCC.

I was fussing about again and what Rob say's is exactly it. "Update all"  only updates the folder content when you select the main program. , The main program will not be updated unless you click "Update".

It is interesting that you can delete the entire contents of the CCC download folder and CCC when run will still be happy.
So all you folks with SSD drives who panic because your running out of room, Just copy that folder over to an external drive and delete the entire local folders content. For me it was 17 GB on each machine.
The folder is found Computer/Program Data/Cakewalk/Command center/Downloads. Once installed those files are no longer needed. But back them up first. You may need the rollbacks and you can also use these to set up a second computer.

Re: What the heck does "update All" do in CCC ? 2017/01/10 08:49:39 (permalink)
"Update All" has never updated all.  If there is an update for Sonar and updates for Sonar plug-ins, if you click update all it will update all the available plug in updates but not Sonar.  Sonar has to be done separately.

There have been threads about this before.  Update All should actually do that - Update all available programs and plug ins.

I posted a feature request last year to make the Update All button actually update all but sadly I guess it still hasn't been done (I gave up on it long ago)...
http://forum.cakewalk.com/Command-Center-Have-an-Update-All-button-that-actually-updates-all-m3423999.aspx

This is one of those things that seems so obvious that I have to wonder whether it is a feature or a bug.

At least rename the button to something else to reflect what it is actually doing.

Didn't you read my post above yours? I added that info just in case there were still folks who hadn't found it yet. It is a little off the beaten track.
The folder is found Computer/Program Data/Cakewalk/Command center/Downloads.

Actually you can set the downloads folder in CCC settings to any path you wish.  I was wondering why the folder you referenced above was filling up my SSD.  I switched the path in CCC to point to another HDD.

Open CCC, click on settings icon > Paths tab > Download path.  Browse to wherever you want CCC to put the installers.

I created a new path and folder name that made better sense to me as well:  V:\CCC Cakewalk Installer Downloads

Yes that's a good idea,, my problem is I download mostly to my laptop which is only one 120 SSD drive. But good tip for people with 4 TB data drives where a 18 GB is a fly spec.

Still it couldn't hurt to create your own folder path on your main drive that you can remember to check see if it's getting out of hand.

When apps bury stuff in a place like "Computer/Program Data/Cakewalk/Command center/Downloads", I never think to look there to see if it needs trimming ...
