I got this synth the other day and loaded it into Sonar, and it sounds terrific. My question is: where are the banks of presets and skins located? When I right click on the logo, banks and skins come up but are grayed out, so I know they should be there. I have the updated version and have put all the files in my VST folder. Can anyone steer me right?

There's an HTML ReadMe file in the distribution ZIP that gives you the location. What you need to do is create a "discoDSP" folder in your My Documents folder, then copy the "OB-Xd" folder from the distribution unzip to the new discoDSP folder.

I like this synth but you have to add your own DSP effects such as reverb and delay before you appreciate it.

I like this synth but you have to add your own DSP effects such as reverb and delay before you appreciate it.
That's easy enough to do, and applies to many synths. Most synth presets are drenched in effects anyway, to help sell them. If I am layering several synths together, I would prefer not to use the on-board FX in a synth anyway, unless they are a significant part of a particular sound. I set up a nice effects chain for it using only some free FX widely available to download, plus a couple from Cake. Just pretend that it's a real classic piece of analog gear that you need to route to an external effects rack
