Pro Tools key binding file for SONAR
Hey everyone, The key bindings file that come with SPLAT does not even come close to mirroring Pro Tools key shortcuts. Does anyone have a file they wouldn't mind sharing so I can use the Pro Tools keyboard shortcuts in Sonar? I'm frustrated with Pro Tools for many reasons but I have internalized so many of those shortcuts that I would prefer to use them and not have to put them all in one at a time into Sonar. Thanks in advance!

There is a keyboard file in your user directory called "PT Key Assignments.kbn" that can be imported in Preferences > Customization > Keyboard Shortcuts I have no idea how well it maps to ProTools though.

I loaded it and pressed familiar shortcuts like Ctrl+E to split a clip and nothing. Same for the most important one: Ctrl+= to toggle track and console view and nothing. I am open to suggestion or like I said before if someone else has encountered the same thing and put together their own custom .kbn file I would greatly appreciate having it.

I haven't worked enough with ProTools to be familiar with many shortcuts, but some operations possibly can't be mirrored because Sonar doesn't work exactly the same way. For instance, toggling between track view and console view isn't implemented the same way in Sonar so you couldn't assign any key to it because the function doesn't exist. But of course there are still a bunch of ways you can switch between the two, e.g. 1. Using screensets 2. Using lenses 3. Using the multidock
All of which can be (and mostly are) bound to shortcut keys.
Of course, something like splitting a clip should still work so it sounds like maybe the template hasn't been updated or checked in quite a while.

You can bind Ctrl+E to Split Clips at Now Time or to Split Clips. The first does what it says (clip has to be selected!), the latter brings up an options window. To switch between Track View and Console View, put the CV in MultiDock and bind Show /Hide MultiDock to Ctrl+=

Thank you scook, Sanderxpander and Klaus. I will use your suggestions and hopefully have some success with it.

You can use D but the multidock can hold many more things than the console. Still, it "mostly" works. You can also use SHIFT+D to toggle between a half size and full size multidock.
By the way there are of course shortcuts for track view and console view, just no way to always toggle between them with a single key.

Thanks Sander. What Sheanes suggested works ok. I'll take a look at the multidock in the next few days as well.

Well as Klaus wrote helpfully: To switch between Track View and Console View, put the CV in MultiDock and bind Show /Hide MultiDock to Ctrl+=
The only thing is that other windows, like loop construction and the piano roll, also show up in the multidock. Just close them and leave the console.

Do you prefer pressing Ctrl+E than simply "S" to split a clip?

If you're used to it, of course.
