My Amp Sim Shootout

Man! Just when I thought I had my mind made up one sim slips past the other. I've narrowed things down to the following amp/effect sims;
1.) S-Gear
2.) Th3 Full
3.) Bias Fx

I gotta say this has been FUN!
I've compared them with clean, crunch, and murder. Each has their strong points and there's much to consider. One thing I know is to TAKE MY TIME. Like I said just when I thought I had my mind made up one sim slips past the other.

The past few hours I been working on the lead to my song NOW. I have a Roger Mayer Univibe and Whoa! On this test it was S-Gear on top. It made the Univibe sing. Much more to go.

The thing about TH3 is it has so many things to offer. S-Gear has such a great clean warm sound. This is going to take some time

cool, have you tried Amplitube free ?
sounds best to my ears, compared them to TH2 and guitar RIG and PODfarm...
did not look at features just tried to find the most 'realistic'.

I have these three

1.) S-Gear
2.) Th3 Full
3.) Bias Amp

and a few others. I have Guitar Rig 5 as well, I like the fx, but the amps aren't as good as these three. I think they all sound pretty good, but I think S-Gear feels (reacts) a little better and the controls respond the way HW does, IMO.

I just got Bias Amp over the holidays and I've played with it, but haven't recorded it yet.

This song uses the S-Gear Wayfarer on the guitar and the ep is a guitar thru a EH Key9 and that uses the TH3 Dumble. Lead guitar comes in later in the song - very natural break up.

This song uses the TH3 Dumble on the guitar and the ep.

For comparison this song uses a HW amp, a Victoria 508 (clone of a tweed champ), mic'd with an sm57.

Except for percussion everything is guitar and guitar synth. Bass is a guitar thru a VG-99.

Thanks Caa2! When I don't have an amp or outlet my acoustic comes in handy to keep my chops up.

Hi Bill,

Helix Native (announced at NAMM) is also something you'll want to check out.
Full features of Helix in a VST Plugin.

Jim - I looked at monitor speakers and I think I'm going with RKR rokit 5's.

I have Pod HD 500x for my Fender Hot Rod Deluxe and DAW as sound card or effects
Pod X-3 for the DAW
TH3 Rock and S-Gear
Edirol FA-66 for primary audio interface
DAW - Studio Cat

When I find a place to live I'm going to slowly put together my studio.
