    Hi,

One of my favorite listens of all time is "Future Days" the long piece (Bel Air) and Jaki's transitions from very quiet to slowly coming alive and back. This can also be found in the following LP "Soon Over Babbalooma" in the transition between the two long cuts on Side 2 (Chain Reaction and Quantum Physics), when the slightest touch even on a symbol, softly, carries it forward ... it's the simplest thing, and the minimalist thing ever ... but shows how detailed and neat this man was about how he played his instrument. There was touch ... in a way, that very few folks know how to do and use ... the only other drummer that comes to mind, being Steve Gadd, that also finds the moments to do things like that.

Time, sometimes is just not fair or just, but we have to thank it, for having given us some inspiration that otherwise we might not have heard. When everyone thought that progressive and prog was about having a hundred drums and fancy setup, here was a very simple one ... that did its job, better than anyone could imagine, to make the piece of music special, different and sometimes spectacular.

RIP my friend ... you will be missed, but always loved!

Music is not about notes and chords! My poem is not about the computer or monitor or letters! It's about how I was able to translate it from my insides!
