Z-Glide Guitar Neck

Anybody have a chance to try a Z-Glide guitar neck from Dean Zelinksky?

Broken pencils are pointless.

    Interesting concept.

I couldn't help but be reminded of a friend who wondered, if dimples make a golf ball have less resistance to air, why couldn't you put dimples all over your car and get awesome gas mileage?

Very cool idea.  I've taken 0000 grade wire wool to necks before now just to get rid of some of the 'clamminess' of overly sticky finishes, masking the pups beforehand ofc!

Mythbusters did it, and it worked. Well, it got better mileage, not awesome.

Ha! And it actually made a difference.

I can't help but wonder if it would make a bigger difference if they used smaller dimples.  That's really what this Z-Glide neck is using too.

the idea of using a laser to etch the surface is pretty straightforward....
and taking out "70%" of the surface area, sounds pretty significant to me.

the price for a brand new les paul version or strat version, direct from MFG, is pretty enticing.

i've played old school Deans, and they all played very well and sounding good.

lots of pros have used them from the late 70's on,
so they have a proven track record.
