Sonivox Big Bang Cinematic Percussion v2.5 crashing SPlat 01.2017
I did the Sonar 01.2017 updates yesterday and all seems OK apart from Sonivox Big Bang Cinematic Percussion which crashes a lot. Can anyone else who has BBCP confirm that there is a problem? I have submitted a few crash dumps to Cakewalk. Thanks ZT

Hi. Did you restart your pc after installing BBCP? Mine crashed the first time, but haven't done so after a reboot. All the best.

I can that I also confirm that I experienced crashes with Sonivox Big Bang Cinematic Percussion (file version 25.02) (and a few other Sonnivox plugins) and Sonar Platinum.
In my situation, My work around was to use the purchased version of Jbridge 1.75 instead of Bitbridge.
As a test, I temporarily changed the VST configuration for Big Bang Cinematic back to Bitbridge. I loaded the patch Conga Ensembles and played some keys. I was able to make Sonar crash straight away (within a few seconds).
I changed the VST configuration for Big Bang Cinematic back to Jbridge 1.75, Loaded Big Bang Cinematic with the patch Conga Ensembles. I played a few keys on the KB controller to trigger the conga sounds and Sonar would not crash.
So maybe the solution is to use the purchased version of Jbridge 1.75 instead of Bitbridge.

Bridging (as far as I know) is only for 32 bit plugins, in a 64 bit DAW. I have used SONIVOX synths a bit lately, and haven't had any crashes other than the one mentioned in my first post.

I was under that impression too.... and it puzzled me as to why this prevents crashing in my case. I am wondering if Jbridge does other funky stuff as well as than bridging 32bit to 64bit or vice versa. Whatever it is, it definitely prevents Sonnivox from crashing Sonar on my system (which was happening before the January update). Who knows, maybe it does something to the timing....?

Thanks guys, I am using the x64 version of the plugins in Win 7 x64 with SPlat x64. I am not using any bridge software in this case (although I have the full version of Jbridge installed for BIAB). The strange thing is that I have just tried Big Bang Percussion again (both stereo and 16 out) and couldn't get it to crash??!! It crashed a lot yesterday even after a couple of reboots. TBH I still have a whole load of Sonivox stuff to install from their Premier collection which I picked up in the Christmas sales so I am keeping my fingers crossed that they don't also give problems. The only other oddity after installing SPlat 01.2017 is that the program icon has disappeared (it has reverted to a plain icon) and I cannot reset it. From the small amount of research that I have done so far it looks like I will have to rebuild the icon cache. Thanks again for your replies, ZT

Looks like a few of us are having this issue. I have dropped a support request to Sonivox to see if they have a better solution than using Jbridge. I Just hope they don't say "Contact Cakewalk support"

It's a confirmed bug in the plugin. It's not Splat. It crashes other DAWs, even crashes on Macs. This workaround works for me ... Press the "Learn" button before playing any notes. Even saving the project immediately after inserting BBCP, before playing anything, seems to work for me.

^^ I forgot (to add earlier) that I read this before installing any of their products. Might be the reason for my lack of problems.

Thanks abacab! That explains why I didn't get any crashes yesterday as had been playing with some of the UI features including learn button.

There is another Sonivox plugin - Vocalizer Pro - that constantly crashes Sonar. It happens every time I go to "Load ChordMap" and try open any Chord map (.smp) file. Is there anybody here who experienced the same?

Interesting ... I have Vocalizer Pro, but never tried to load a chord map before. Thanks man, you just broke my Sonar, LOL!!! But seriously, I tried it with Sonar in Win 7/8 compatibility mode, and Administrator mode, same crash. I tried Reaper, same crash. When I look at the crash results in AppCrashView, I see the same exception code, fault module name, and fault module version for both DAWs. The module and version is KERNELBASE.dll 10.0.14393.479, which appears to belong to Windows. I assume this may be a Windows compatibility issue. The exception code is 0xe06d7363. According to the SONiVOX website, this appears to be another application of theirs that is not yet fully Windows 10 compatible. They only list Windows 8 as the most recent OS here: http://sonivoxmi.com/products/details/vocalizer-pro#compatibility

I did have Sonivox crashes with Windows 7 64bit. I Tried many things, adjusting the latency, etc. As strange as this is, I tried using Jbridge (Even though this is for running 32bit plugs in a 64bit environment), and this helped somewhat. But I still got the odd Sonivox crash.
I did not know about the pressing learn button - but I probably have done that with the projects I am using.
Now that I have upgraded to a fully patched Windows 10 64bit system, I no longer get crashes in any of Sonivox products. Their single instrument Taylor Guitar was really bad in Windows 7, but in Windows 10, no more crashes.
I have Sonar Platinum 2017.2 (The latest version as of 9 March 2017)
I am not sure what's different about my Windows 10 64bit system, but I have many Sonivox products (including Big Bang Cinematic Percussion v2.5) and do not have any of these crashing issue anymore. My round trip latency is 6ms.
I am currently in the middle of a project that uses Orchestral Companion - Brass, Orchestral Companion - strings and Big Bang Cinematic Percussion v2.5 and various other non Sonivox VST. I have not had this project crash.

I saw a comment on the SONiVOX community that mentioned the newer releases, such as the "Singles" products, were tested to be Windows 10 compatible. The older products are still under testing, as far as I know. They don't say "not compatible", but if you submit a support request for the older products you will get a response that they do not fully support Windows 10 yet. But in my experience, most of them do work with Win 10, except for a few odd bugs. IMHO if they are still selling these products with Windows 10 almost 2 years post release, and now a mainstream Windows version, they need to step up!!! The website lists compatibility, but it is common standard to list the minimum system requirements. If you read them as Windows 8, it is assumed like hey I have Windows 10, no problem. But in this case ... no. I don't see any of these issues coming up with AIR products. inMusic is the parent company for both AIR and SONiVOX now ...
