Help Needed - 1176 - "All buttons in, etc"

Hello fellow Sonararians and other Cakewalkonians,

I need some help.
1)Is the PC76 compressor in the ProChannel a generic Cakewalk version of the famed 1176 compressor?
   If it, is, then"
I've just seen Bob Owsinski's You Tube video on the 1176 "Nuke" setting
2)  how do I get all the buttons pushed in for the "Nuke" setting?
2) Where would the correct position for the 1176 setting of "7" on the Attack dial? (Per Mr. Owskinski, the attack values get shorter when turned to the right, but what that would correspond to on the Cakewalk PC76 is unclear.)

If anyone knows of another option for a 1176 clone, that would be not too expensive (read less than $60 bucks, USA), I would be all ears.

Thanks in advance,

Ray

  • While not exactly an 1176 emulation, PSP Audio's FETpressor is really good but it's beyond your budget at $99.
  • Watch Waves for sales on their CLA76. Regular price is $249 but no one pays full price for Waves stuff.
  • Native Instruments also has an 1176 clone called the VC76 but again, $99. They have a black Friday sale every year at 50% off but that'a a ways out for you.
  • Stillwell has the Rocket at $50.
  • Nomad Factory has the Buss Driver for $10!
Hope this helps!

Peace!
Daniel

The Waves CLA76 comes with two versions of the 1176, an earlier one and a later one. They are noticably different in sound and performance. I think the UAD plug is an emulation of the later model, though I'm not sure.

I don't know which version Cakewalk's PC76 is based on, but if it's not the same hardware version as the UAD then I wouldn't expect the two of them to behave in quite the same way. The best approach to compression is to remember that just because so-and-so's mix is affected in a particular way doesn't mean yours will be in the same way unless you are using their audio tracks and gain staging.

On Cakewalk's plugin the "all buttons in" setting is the right hand button with an infinity symbol on it. The help file for the compressor explains it all and is here - https://www.cakewalk.com/...elp=ProChannel.04.html

I like the PC76. I have some other 1176 emulations, but tend to use the Cakewalk version the most.

As stated above, the ratio button with infinity symbol represents the all buttons in mode.
