Dimension Pro install never finishes-on two different computers [solved]

I thought dimension Pro was updated recently as I saw it was not installed on my studio computer so I installed it (maybe I just had never installed it before as 3gigs is a time taker when you don't have internet and have to tether through your phone). Installed via command center and it never told me my install was finished, just kept going and going for an hour so I stopped cc then checked dim pro, which seemed to be working but then sonar started crashing when I use dim pro so the installation must not have been complete. Strangely, the exact same thing happened on my home computer, as I reinstalled dim pro because I thought it was updated (much faster at home with the google fibers) the exact same thing happened - no report of complete installation after an hour so I stopped cc and dim pro seemed to work but crashes splat.

So my question is why would cc hang up during a dim pro install? and is there an alternative install method? it would be nice to download the update file at home and thumb drive it to the studio.

it is the studio computer stats in my sig, home computer also running up to date win10

While the installers get updated from time to time, the actual DPro program and contents have not changed in over 6 years. The current installer is 1.5.5.16 release in July 2015.

I have no idea why the download is not completing. Could there be a prompt hiding behind the command center waiting for input?

All of the installers are available in your account. When installing DPro from your account, you will need to authenticate it by running the stand alone synth as administrator entering the serial number and registration code when prompted. Or you could copy the installers into the download path specified in the Command Center and use the Command Center to install and authenticate DPro.

just tried again hoping for hidden prompts but none. So you think it is unusual to install d-pro via control center? I went to my account at cakewalk.com but it reccommended using command center to install. I'm going to try doing it from the website now

I always use the Command Center and ran the last DPro installer was released just to test it. I do not recall having any issue with it.

Well I installed from the website and was prompted with questions not asked by the cc installer (cc installer asked zero questions) such as language etc. and the installation actually completed. When I opened Dimpro in sonar it asked for my registration number and now it says that is an invalid number, although I got it from my cakewalk account. grrr

The prompts are automatically answered when using the Command Center.
Are you running the stand alone as administrator when registering, like i mentioned above?

that did it! thanks scook! now I know how to run something as administrator, just assumed I always did as I'm the only one who uses the computer, lol

There is a difference between being the the administrator group and running a program as administrator. Running programs as administrator grants a little more access to the machine.

Glad the install completed. Next stop crashton.

    Your not trying hard enough....
Seriously, that is good news. If you can eventually get it to crash, try to recall the program. Some are known bad actors which can be adjusted. I do not recall issues with drum programs but I only tested a few drum kits in DPro. I prefer to use Session drummer 3 when using sfz files. IIRC, there are some kits in DPro which are actually installed in SD3 too.

Actually it was "drum grooves", I don't use stuff like that much in real life.
