Funny thing is, as I decided to research, using Google, this wonderful and essential ingredient/product this Cakewalk thread is the fifth item down. So I thought I'd better post the Wikipedia link here for the benefit of anyone else in the world who stumbles across this:- https://en.m.wikipedia.or..ki/Worcestershire_sauce

I like to marinate rib eyes with a bit of this wonderful stuff. A bit mixed into ground beef for home-grilled burgers is pretty darn tasty too!

What Wiki doesn't mention is that you can smell the Lea and Perrins factory from over half a mile away if the wind is in the right (or should that be wrong?) direction.

I'll believe you. I'm must going off what Mrs TLW says about it when her office base was in Worcester.
Though for really pungent aromas Burton takes some beating - an assortment of breweries, the Branston pickle factory and the Marmite works....

Where did she work Tim, if you don't mind me enquiring. I recall playing cricket in Burton-on-Trent many years ago and I certainly remember the smell of the (Marstons?) brewery nearby to the ground.

Mmmm, Worcestershire sauce. Good stuff on any beef! On a positive smell, I use to live near a commercial bakery that mass produced cupcakes and ho ho's and donuts, I think it was the Doilly Madison line. I'll bet just passing by and smelling all the cakes and stuff made my blood sugar jump.

I live on the edge of Worcester overlooking a couple of local farms Mesh. Years ago, every April regular as clockwork they'd be out in the fields 'muck-spreading' the farms' stockpile of pig sh1t to use as fertiliser. Bad as the smell was, it was preferable to the vile stench of the fish-meal based stuff they use nowadays

I also lived about 5 miles from a "pig farm", and still got the stench when the wind blew in our direction. The new housing development in that farm area was about 1/3 less than rest of Vegas. Of course, there was an opportunity to get your "dream house"........albeit suffering at a "small" price.

Yep. We've got one of those right up the river a few miles. They finally had to change how they operate to remove the smell (similar to a fresh baby diaper) from wafting down the river. The worst ever though was an investment property I went in with a friend on. It was in a bad area near Los Angeles right between a sewage treatment facility and an oil refinery. We used to joke it's where rich flies go to retire.
