R&B Vintage Style

Hey folks,

Here is my latest R&B song done  in Sonar of course. Take a listen and tell me what you think.  To me the backgrounds sounded muddy after  I limited. I may go back and lower them.  Any tips and feedback is always appreciated.

Yes sounds perfect!  In the antiphonal section *letter on my pillow* chorus and then your solo responses....the solo responses sound overly midrangey on headphones.  Didn't know if that was on purpose for contrast.

I wanted to separate the solo responses to add a dimension since I cant sing that well I try to do other things to mask my lack of range. I was also kinda iffy on the amount of reverb used on them but I was like "what the heck" Its worth a try.   I appreciate everyone's feedback.

What a pleasant way to start the day.  This is the kind of song I can sink my teeth into.  Your voice is terrific, and, if you don't mind me saying so, you remind me of Seal.  Encore!

Wow! Your doubled chorus vocals are sublime. Your verse vocals are really good. The rnb elements are just pure flow. Very very nice! I'd call this "neo-soul" and your vocals really sell it.

I got a little stuck at :40, did a beat get shaved a little? I thought I heard some maybe edit issue?

This is super creative, I wish I could pull this off. The drums seem perfectly placed, a lovely crisp dry snare. Very bueno.

I don't know if you need those 8 bars of epiano chords at the end - how about a fade out?

Thanks for the listen, really enjoyed it!

Nothing special at :40 except an added pad.(there is a slight click of the bass and kick drum mis match) The drums are AD2 from SPLAT.   The chords at the end were done for drama. AND because no one ever leaves anything empty as an effect anymore. Just throwing things at the wall. I appreciate the feedback

    Nice production, cool performance!

The "letter on my pillow" bits (very strong hook line b.t.w.!) and the solo voice could do with a little less contrast frequency/mixing wise for my taste. The way they compliment each other works great naturally.

Anyway, I enjoyed the listen! Nice, groovy, catchy tune : )

    Regards,
    Daniel

Ditto to the above - nice R&B vibe in all aspects.    And like Lynn I heard shades of Seal in your vocals, particularly in the layered parts - they have that breathy yet crisp thing happening that I don't hear very often.   And I really like Seal.

Thanks again for all the comments.  I am continuing to look for "creative" ways to contrast my lead vs. background vocals. If anyone has a suggestion for a technique they use, please share.
