Do you use the PC4K S-Type Bus Compressor? How does it compare?

I'm trying to figure out if I should be looking at other bus/buss compressors.

I've tried to do my homework, but recommendations are all over the place. For example: http://forum.cakewalk.com/Bus-Compressor-Plugins-Faves-m3366887.aspx

Is there enough variation in bus/buss compressors that it really makes a difference?

[donning flame suit] I don't think so. How you use them, and the material being processed, will have more impact than the compressors themselves. However one may have a feature, like sidechaining, that another one doesn't have, and some deliberately introduce "character" so they have their own special take on what something should sound like...which may or may not be what you want.

Ultimately, though, I don't think it makes a lot of difference to the listener. I'm also kind of "old school" in the sense that if I can hear the compressor working, then I assume I'm applying too much

Thanks, Craig. If someone is bold enough to flame you, I hope they can back it up.

The variety of recommendations tells me you're right. It seems to be what sounds good to the user or having a feature they find useful.
