OK - here is song number three from the EP I'm trying to do - If, by Bread. (new mix)

(OK - I have had a few comments at another site that I needed to differentiate the two tracks on this sone. I recorded both tracks with the same guitar and effects, etc. So, I added a flange effect to the rhythm guitar. I think it sounds better, but not really sure.
 
Howdy everyone - I hope you are all doing well.
 
This is the third song I've done for a EP project I'm working on - I'm trying to do six ballad - songs I really like. The first one I did was Shanendoah the second was Till There Was You.
 
I know these songs are very simple tunes - but they are so difficult for me to do - so meticulious.
 
By the time I got done with this one - I had worked so hard on it, I thought that it turned out badly - I'm still not sure if it's any good - or just boring dribble. But, my wife just came in the studio and I played it for her - and she started crying - so maybe it's ok.

Beautiful, Markus. I know you said the song is simple, but you've brought out the musical complexity, and it gives the listener a lot to think about. That said, I would have liked to hear fewer notes in those runs. But still, beautiful.

Larry - I understand what you mean by less notes - that's one of the hardest parts for when doing a song like this - playing fewer notes. I'm basically a blues player and alot of the little runs I do are all muscle memory things. I guess the hard part is for me to not do what I've been practicing all these years. jamesg - hi there. I do like doing these - but I find they are kind of difficult to play - tough to play slow like that.
 
Sheanes - I put a new mix up which is spread a bit more - the mix is kind of a work in progress. I did put in a bus eq like you suggested - I think it warms sit up. Thanks for the comments - very helpful to me.

Well, it didn't make me cry, but I gotta' say that you really did a beautiful job on that tune.  Fabulous tone and perfectly played.  And the song itself is both sweet and melancholy at the same time.  Kudos, Mark.
