[SOLVED] step sequencer question

I'm trying the step sequencer view for the first time. Can't find any info in the new extensive pdf Sonar Reference Guide. Is the step seauencer being phased out or something? It looked quicker than the PRV in a tutorial I saw, but right away kick drum notes I placed on beat 4/16 were sounded at 5/16 as though they were being quantized to quarter notes. I couldn't find obvious seperate snap controls so I switched to PRV and made the necessary adjustments and it plays as intended. THEN I went back to Step Sequencer to see how it now looked except it was greyed out so I couldn't view the step sequencer view.

Should I just avoid step sequencer or did I just not set it up right before entering notes?

Any reason SS is not in the new reference pdf?
