Frustration Reigns Supreme

I am taking a course (a free one) to learn how to create music using a synthesizer. The course I am taking allows me to download FXpansion's Strobe 2 but it is only good for 90 days.  I'd like to find something that is packaged with SONAR Platinum that is similar in nature to Strobe 2.  I am trying to figure out if Dimension Pro 1.5 fills that bill but can't seem to find info on it much less figure out how to use it.  For example, how do I create audio files? I can't seem to insert  Dim Pro 1.5 as a synth as I can with Strobe 2.
 
What other synth's are the  that I might look into? 

Looking at Strobe 2 it seems more or less a "standard" polyphonic subtractive synth. Does Sonar still come with Pentagon? It should have everything you need. There's also the AAS analog synth and Z3ta+. They all cover the same parts - oscillators, filters, amplifier and modulation sources (envelope generators and LFOs).

FWIW, nearly all sample based synths (e.g. Dimension) are also based on subtractive synthesis. They just have a (multi)sample in place of the "analog" oscillator and they usually miss some more niche features like oscillator sync. So if that's what your course covers you have a good start.
