Reverb
Wondering what others would consider a good plugin reverb for hard rock? I have a handful of plugins and know its totally subjective but wondering what you use. I would say style wise similar to Mötley Crüe or Def Leppard. Thank you

I play hard rock, and I like the Softube TSAR, PSP 2445 EMT, PSP Springbox, and I also like the good ol Sonitus reverb that comes with Sonar.

Are you asking for reverb in general (instruments) or for vocals? For vocals, I'll second the ole Sonitus verb. Along with Breverb, and the ReMatrix & IRs, you're covered pretty well sonically, and you don't have to spend a dime. Another freebie verb released recently that's surprisingly good: http://www.kvraudio.com/product/orilriver-by-denis-tihanov If you feel you must spend some money, the Valhalla verbs are well-worth their $50 (each) asking price: Room for natural spaces or Vintage Verb for that old school Lexicon vibe.

Thank you for the feedback, yes for vocals in particularly. Not in a hurry to spend more money unless warranted. It sucks cause I really like the wave products including their reverbs but the license has to be released if you go from 1 computer to another instead of just allowing 1 desktop and 1 laptop license. Thanks for the insight, I'll give Sonitus another spin :)

not if you put your licenses on a flash drive/usb stick, then when everything is installed you just move the flash drive/usb stick to the other computer and carry on. no releasing required

If you store your licenses on a Flash Drive you can just take the flash drive from one PC to the other, as many PC's as you want. And a USB Flash drive is cheap.

One of my favorite Reverbs is Hofa IQ Reverb. It does it all and sounds awesome. Also
Valhalla Room is probably the best low price Reverb. Lexicon PCM has been a Studio Standard, as well as the LX-480 but those are pricey. FF Pro-R is really nice.
Lot's of Reverbs...but some require a lot of tweaking to get where you want.

Not that I have it, but wouldn't the Valhalla Vintage Verb be good for 80 Rock.

I remember way back through the years we had a free lexicon reverb with cakewalk. Wonder if I find it if it would be worth while.

Would that be the Lexicon Pantheon. I think pre 8.5. The Valhalla Vintage is worth checking if you want that sound, I believe there is a demo.

If Mötley Crüe and Def Leppard are your references, chances are they were using the studio standards of the day, Lexicons. Mutt Lange in particular was a fan of creative reverb effects, pioneering techniques such as gated and reverse reverb on snares, but curiously did not favor reverb on vocals, preferring delays instead. It was a signature of Lange on many albums. One of the hallmarks of those bands and that style is that vocals were heavily overdubbed, often with each part triple-tracked. One might be tempted to credit that lush vocal effect to reverb, but that wasn't it. It was good microphones, good singers and lots of patience. I'd suggest Lexicon for period authenticity if you can afford it, Valhalla Vintage if you can't. Big difference in price, not a huge difference in sound.
All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to. My Stuff

The Plat included Overloud B-Reverb and Rematrix are excellent if you take some time with them. Truly do not believe you need to spend a dime.
