Need advice about Addictive Drums 2 upgrades with Sonar Platinum

I currently own the base version of Addictive Drums 1 that came with Sonar X3 Producer, and also an upgrade to Addictive Drums 2 that I bought from XLN that only contained one extra drum kit.

I was wanting to add more drum kits, but individually they cost a whopping £90 each.

So I am now looking to upgrade to Sonar Platinum instead, as doing so comes with the AD2 Producer Bundle which allows me to get 3 extra kits, and the upgrade is cheaper than buying two drum kits separately.

On the cakewalk blog, I read a few things about this that I would like clearing up.

Firstly it says:

__________

What if I already have Addictive Drums 2?

Lucky you! You can redeem the code that comes with SONAR Platinum or Professional to add additional kits that you don’t have yet.

__________

Does this mean that as I already own AD2, I will be able to add more than the 3 drum kits that come with the AD2 Producer bundle, or just the 3 that it already includes? If the former, how many extra kits would this allow me to add?

Secondly, it also says:

_________

What if I already have Addictive Drums 1?

You can still use Addictive Drums 1, Addictive Drums 2 does not replace it. It just simply sits next to it in your list of available instruments.
For an optional $79.95 you can upgrade your entire collection of Addictive Drums 1 packs in addition to choosing 3 brand new packs for Addictive Drums 2 with SONAR Platinum.

_________

I just have the version of AD1 that came with Sonar X3 Producer, and dont think this contains any additional drum kits to move over to AD2, however I would still like to buy this to get the 3 additional kits. I would like to know if the base version of AD1 that came with Sonar X3 Producer contained any additional kits that would be upgraded to AD2.

TLDR - Buying Sonar Platinum upgrades just to get more kits for Addictive Drums 2 is vastly less expensive (hint, Im not using the term 'cheaper' as it still aint cheap) then it is to buy the kits separately from XLN.

I upgraded from AD1 to AD2, which upgraded all of my AD1 content, prior to the current Sonar Platinum deal. I would contact XLN on your AD1 content. The inclusion of the AD2 Producer Bundle made upgrading to Platinum a no brainer for me.

The Producer Bundle is just 3 kits, 3 midi packs and 3 kit pieces. It doesn't matter what you already had before. Great deal. XLN also has sales from time to time, you can get XXL Custom bundles (six of everything) for under 200 bucks I think. Especially going through a third party like Plugindiscounts.com

Thanks. I'll go ahead and grab the Sonar Platinum upgrade, and wait for a reply from XLN about upgrading AD1 before getting that upgrade, I was just looking to add the two jazz drum kits as the demos ive recorded are a jazz / neo soul blend of balads (think Norah Jones and Alicia Keys combined) and I picked the Modern Soul and RnB kit for my free one but the drums are too harsh and loud. Then I want to get them submitted for either an internship at a record studio or masters degree in music starting in the nest academic year.

I did a minor in music tech a while ago, but they never taught me how to use midi / VSTs, it was just all about how to mic up instruments, live audio recording and waveform editing which was all pretty much useless for me.

if you wanted to add more content up the road, XLN will have custom packages where the adpaks cost less than buying singles.
Right now they have a Custom package for 169 , your choice of 3 adpaks , 3 midi paks  , a 3 kit piece paKS.
Think that same package was on for 99 bucks a couple of weeks ago.
