CPU core fix? SPlat 2017.2 GOT IT :)

There was a cpu core fix that would help even up the cpu cores on this forum sometime back. Changes from within the "Configure file" area. I can't seem to find the post.
Anyone remember what settings need to change?

Thanks!

are you sure your not thinking about plug in load balancing ?
Its in preferences.

Aah... You were talking about core balancing
I believe that it is a consequence of plugin load balancing.

It sure looks like a load balancing problem to me.
Care to share what you did ? it might help others someday.

Are you sure you don't mean "Thread Scheduling Model" under Preferences/Audio/Configuration File? It should be set to "2" for multi core CPUs, Sonar sets it to 1 by default.

Yes, that's about it. MMCSST thread priority is set to 2 in my case for my CPU.
I set the Enable set thread ideal processor to false.
Sorry, I forgot to put how I fixed it... I thought I had...

So I have a multi-core with 8 threads which seems to be balancing well. However, in the config ThreadSchedulingModel is set to 1 (Legacy wait-for-single-object) Should I be changing this to 2? Why would the default be a legacy setup?

I don't think it will brake it.... to try setting it to 2... I tired both options.  I think though its suppose to be set to like half the thread set. I would think 4. maybe the bakers forgot to add the option. I believe it was there in the past. There was a post in like  the summer of 2015? a lot of people where doing this to fix the same thing...

but who knows...

The default of 1 isn't actually the legacy setting, which would be 0 to make SONAR work like it did in versions 3 through 8.0. The "1" value works well across all CPU types and driver models, so that's why it's the default.

In my own experience, changing this setting did not result in any noticeable difference in CPU efficiency on my quad-core machine.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

A few other suggestions, disable core parking and if this an Intel CPU disable Speed Step (CPUEIST)...that's a BIOS tweak.

What did make a difference for me since the Win 8.1 days, was to disable core parking. All 8 cpu cores are working in unison.
I never had to use Sonar's load balancing.
