No Self Control (Re-done) Now featuring Danny Danzi, Bapu and a New Singer

I'm doing this as a new post because the song has been totally re-worked.  First off I realized that my vocal was just not cutting it on this tune, so I got Gregg Bolger who had done some singing for Ed on his song, Fresh Country, to handle the vocals.  It made a world of difference.  Then, as luck would have it, I was able to get Danny to add some guitar tracks on the song.  As always my good friend Bapu (Ed) put down a premium bass track to help move the tune along.  For those of you that actually listen to lyrics, there's a fun story in there too.  And who says you can't mix a couple of synthesizers with a boogie piano and a rock/blues guitar?

Here are the links.  Soundcloud- https://soundcloud.com/phil-doyle-292979186/no-self-control

Hope y'all like it.  Thanks for listening.  Comments welcome.

Sounds real nice. If I had to give a crit I would personally start with more organic instrumentation at the beginning and build with the more exciting, synth-y sounds that now start the song, coming in later to kick it up a notch at a time. A plainer start to the song then the lack of self control being characterized by the new sounds being added. Just my take right now, I'm trying to comment more...

Hi Phil

What a great song! On my second listen now, while I type...

Lyrics are great.

Mix, as busy as it is, sounds fantastic. Every part has its place.

Well put together... I'm assuming that each member had to create their track and send it to you for final mixing?

cheers

Nice song and mix. Only thing that didn't quite sound right in my ear was the guitar solo. It was great but sounded a bit like it didn't match the song.

Hi,
Good fun listening to this tune And by the way thanks a lot for typing the lyrics it is a great help for.. foreigners.
Well you american people have a way to write songs that tells me you have that in your veins ,as if songwriting was as natural as... playing golf... No ,no sorry ,I wont do it again.
Well anyway good blues rock song with ( for me) special mention for the lyrics.
Cheers.

Nice stuff Phil!  I've heard this one before with you singing.  I like this version - not saying your vox were bad, but this is an "upgrade"

I would consider replacing the synthy stuff with some pedal or slide.  this song has "country" written all over it, IMO, but the instrumentation is not always representative of that.

danny's and ed's parts are great and they fit there.  it's just the synthy part that could use some change, IMO

make it more like Lynrd Skynyrd and this would be a huge hit, IMO.

just my 2 cents.

Phil,
I totally enjoyed the tune. Yes, an interesting combo of instruments. The mix sounded fine. The voc sounded a wee bit loud overall but I think it was because of the small Bluetooth JBL Flip speaker I'm using (I'm at lunch). Great work.

Yeah, that sounds good.

I like the mix of synths and typical blues/rock instrumentation.  Cool blend.  And Greg's slight twang works great.   I also liked Danny's fills/leads over top - just enough.

Like you alluded that projectile right?

Hey Phil ,

This song collab of yours is a pretty nice listen .
The tune itself as it plays through has a very good vibe to it as " The Hero " tells his story
