2017.3 Note Name Display Missing In PRV?

Previously when I clicked on (or even hovered over, I believe), the name of the note would be visible on the keyboard (left screen).

This was always helpful for quickly being certain which note I was at. I can click on the note and get the velocity balloon display which gives me the data, but it's much slower to use.

The new color change to the sharp/flat notes in the grid helps, but my eye often gets lost.

Is this tool now gone or just an oversight?

Yes, they removed the note name when hovering in the PRV.  Wish they would bring it back.

Hi folks,

Thanks for the report.  I've reproduced it.  I have a question along with a link to this post out to the Devs and PM as to the intent.  I seem to remember it being part of the de-cluttering of the view at some point of the cycle, I'm just having trouble finding a definitive spec point for it.  Will let you ASAP.

Thanks,
Jim

Wow, I hope this gets fixed!  How are we supposed to know the note - I'm not a pianist.
I did once forward a suggestion saying it would be far more helpful if the note name came up near the cursor, i.e where you're working and looking, instead of constantly having to look over to the keyboard see it.

While I can understand the idea of de-cluttering the PRV, I have to believe who ever decided to remove the note names has never actually used any modern keyswitched instruments.  Those note names are just about the only guide you have that you are sending the right key to the synth.  Make it an option, sure, but don't take it out completely.

Hi guys,

I heard back from Dev / PM - sounds like a symptom of having extended the Aim assist in that area.  We'll be putting it back.

Thanks,
Jim
