Loop Question
Hello I'm very new to the forum but I've been using Sonar since ProAudio9 days. My question is about loops. I have been using Drum loops ever since they have been available first and foremost because for me they are way easier than keeping a drum-set in my little recording studio, that said I have also found that using other instrument loops in my productions has payed off by adding spice where spice is needed. (After My Intro Drivel) Question: I would like to create my own loops for use by me or for sale etc.. I've noticed that when I place the drum loops or instrument loops I purchase into cakewalk audio folder they can be previewed at their current tempo or a little faster without to much pitch shifting which is cool and very useful when building a composition. When I try to build a loop such as a mandolin chop in a certain key and place it in cakewalks audio folder it plays all flammy and weird. I made a test the other day and I recorded a guitar chop (straight chop pattern in the key of Gmaj) In Ableton and I saved it as a mono track, I then pulled it into Reaper and I could run the tempo up from its starting BPM without much pitch shifting actually it worked really well. I then took the same audio file and placed it into cakewalks audio folder and set the host tempo to it's BPM and Flammy results ???? I turned off the follow host tempo and it played fine I tried to speed the sample up with the host tempo and no luck until i hit about 50 bpm higher. The Drum and Instrument samples that I buy can be used in cakewalks preview at host tempo just fine as long as they are set at a tempo that is the same or greater that the sample starting bpm. I apologize for the lengthy burst of insanity but curiosity has got the best of me. What method are they using that cakewalk sees in a sample to be able to preview it at its current tempo or higher without problems but if I try to make an audio sample and preview it at different tempos it doesn't work in cakewalk is there a setting i'm missing etc.... any info on this subject is greatly appreciated. Thanks to all in advance.
