Dimension Pro

Whoever created this monster of a beast my hat is totally off to them!

I have been using it for years and my entire sound is carved by this amazing synth instrument!

Lately I have been getting into the electric guitar with distortion that comes stalk.

Add some Breverb to that and a pitch bend wheel and it really passes as a real lead guitarist!

Please give some feedback on what your favorite Dimension Pro sounds are.

A Mystery of Science.

I will respond with my favorite patches too.

I don't use DP much and therefore have no favorites, but just wanted to say: great tune!

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

First tip...

Gibson Les Paul overdrive.sfz

You can try the clean (natural) guitar and add TH3 it really does not work as well as Gibson Les Paul overdrive.sfz, breverb and pitch wheel. :)

Tip two...

Fretless bass (chorus) (though I mono much of my lower end.)

and pitch wheel...

Indispensable resource in my music.

If you like Dimension Pro you might want to consider buying Rapture Pro when it's on sale.  Just the improvement in the font sizes and preset browsing makes it worth it :)

Plus it combines Rapture and Dim Pro in the same synth.

In the guitar section of DP I like the Steel Wah run through an amp sim for faux pedal steel.  There's a better on in Rapture Pro called Faux Steel, which I use quite a bit.

All the best,

I used to have a Yamaha DX27 and that was my go to synth for sounds. Now Dimension is this synth.

I will always need FM synthesis.

I use FM synthesis to cut through a mix sometimes.

The sounds are clear and fill the foreground.

Tip three

Pads => "As quiet as possible".

This sound is in EVERY song I make.

It is away lurking underneath everything i create.

Everything.

Thanks for including Ballad Bass here too.

I use that also.

I did not tweak (yet) it but I will look into that.

If it is too modulated I often reduce the stereo spread on the lower end.

"Dull Fingered 2" I use a lot.

Garritan Pocket Orchestra => Brass => French Horn (always works) .

Grand Piano.

THIS piano is the best piano I have ever had and i have many.

The one at the top of the list and the second one the are based on the same samples i assume.

I usually pick them.

It "cuts through the sound".

What does cuts though the sound mean?

Just listen to these pianos and you may learn.

How a piano melds with your sound the piano can sound fake, tinny or far away.

Dimension pianos sound present.

Hammond organ.

The only organ dimension has that i use is Hammond with modulation wheel.

If the other organs had modulation Leslie i would use them too.

Dimension needs more funky organs... like a lot of them... all of them need Leslie on modulation wheel effect.

:)

Hammond Jazz 3 with rotary on mw also "cuts through a  mix". :)

It is really nice to have a piano you can always go to and it works in every situation.

The dim pro piano is the best piano I have ever used.

I am never disappointed by its sound, it is so realistic and satisfying.

Please add more to Dimension. I would like more horns (huge brass) and organs like doors organs and really funky organs.

Choirs and fat brass, horns, flutes, clarinets dim pro needs expansion.

The pad library is impressive but the solo instruments could use some expansion.

I have to also take off my hat and a huge bow to the string section especially the expression fortissimo violins cellos bass etc.. a huge and always apropos resource!

I don't think that is typical.  Sounds like a conflict on your system, or something that has been corrupted.  Have you tried uninstalling/re-installing it yet?

As far as I can recall, Dimension Pro x64 has never crashed on me.

I can't relate to that at all. I've been using DimPro since 2007 and it's always been solid. It's one of my goto synths. I tend to use several instances of it almost every project.

It seems that Mike has been having some issues with his DAW, perhaps something else besides Dimension?

Not sure if this was Magic Mikes problem or not but I used to experience very consistent crashes when using tempo based presets/drums in DP. I have avoided them now for several years and don't recall specific presets that caused issues, just remember that it was very consistent. I can use 99% of DP with no problems, it was just these few presets that always crashed system. That was prob back in X1 or X2 days. I feel like it was noted in a thread at the time as a known issue but haven't dug that up.
