I've never been to either (except for an airport transfer in Miami). I'd like to visit both, but will probably need to wait a few years. I suspect that currently I'm on a Do Not Allow list. I've got a couple of "paradise on earth's." Anguilla, Saint Martin, or for the US, New Orleans.

I can just walk up and go down the Columbia River gorge, and not need anything else. Maybe even camp way out up the Wind River off the Columbia ... very nice, clean water, clear as anything ... and totally peaceful!
I'm not really a person to go to places where the noise pollution is even higher than where we are.
Music is not about notes and chords! My poem is not about the computer or monitor or letters! It's about how I was able to translate it from my insides!

San Diego if you have enough money to live away from the city itself and send maids into town for groceries. It's like 78 - 80 degrees all the time.
Florida is very hot and humid.
Hawaii is very expensive because of where it is. Many people come back to the mainland so it can't be all that great once you live there for a while.
Be very wary of places that are isolated because without job competition employers are free to abuse you with lower wages and lots of responsibilities that they would be afraid to heap on you if you could just take your talents elsewhere. I know this living up in this resort destination. I'm self employed now and have to do everything. It just doesn't seem like abuse so much now.
This is paradise in the summer.
About 78 - 82 degrees with 10 percent humidity - and wildflowers everywhere. When you get older you appreciate this kind of thing. We came for the winters and stayed for the summers. (That's a saying here).

2 years ago next month, I rented a place in Islamorada in the Florida Keys. Private beach, kayaks, snorkeling gear, and the house was beautiful. Flew the kids down and we all had a great vacation. 80 degrees every day. Pretty close to perfect.

I take exception to post #20. This is the England I know. This is the church where I got married.  One of 3 pubs in the village.  Ambleside, in the Lake District.  Great sandwiches in that café. Avebury stone circle in Wiltshire.  The Yorkshire Dales.  Tintagel, Cornwall.  The Shambles, York.

C'mon yourself mate, this is what you said; Thats pretty much what all of England looks like. There are SOME parts of many cities that look like the picture you posted. However, I've been to just about every large town and city in England at least once and there are also beautiful 'urban' areas like Oxford, Lancaster, Bristol, Winchester, Cirencester, Stratford, Rye, etc etc. and also major regeneration in places like Newcastle and Hull. I don't like sweeping generalisations.
