Can the Sonar default install path be changed?

I posted this upstairs and am thinking it's the computer gurus I should ask.
http://forum.cakewalk.com/Can-the-Sonar-default-install-path-be-changed-m3582930.aspx

The question is:
Can the default install path for Sonar be changed?
to say: 'C:/program files/CakeSPlat'

Or,
is 'C:/program files/cakewalk/platinum' baked in?

So, there would be no "Cakewalk" in the header.

If so, would the install program still use "Cakewalk" in the registry? (As apposed to "CakeSplat").
(clean install).

The reason I ask is:
Sonar Platinum version Dec 2016 or thereabouts somehow changed the shared plugin manager so that now my 8.53 install is screwed up.
I figure if I can isolate the 2 separate installs, the 8.53 PIM won't get overwritten and everything will be hunky dory.

Thanks for any help.

Simple answer is Yes Tim, but you need to change the paths before any part of Splat is installed.  As part of the install it bakes the paths in to ensure that subsequent updates always update the same locations.

Probably better to set up a new sub directory path for 8.5 and reinstall that.

    Say C:\Program files\Cakewalk 8.5\ for SONAR Producer 8.5 and
    C:\Program Files\Cakewalk for Platinum.

This would give you completely different shared directories that now sit under the Program Files\Cakewalk

Yes Mr. Wookie. That's what i was thinking.

However, I'm concerned as to what happens in the registry.
I just get the feeling that whatever I change directory paths to the registry will default to:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Cakewalk Music Software\Tools Menu\Plugin Manager
I guess I just have to try it. Better get Acronis first:)

ralf sort of addressed in the above link recently.

Sorry I have all these threads going. Just trying to find a solution.
