reFX NEXUS 2 Crackling Issues in SONAR Cakewalk X3
I'm not sure why, but Nexus 2 is the only VST that I am having crackling sounds when playing. I can hear the instrument play, but there is an insane amount of crackling on top of it. No other VSTs do this. I used Kontakt 5 a lot, and I wanted to expand to something different. I went through all possible settings that I can think of. Tried different drivers and hardware, but the same thing. I am using a Focusrite 18i8. I previously was using a Presonus USB Audiobox. I did hook the Audiobox back up just to try it, and again, Nexus 2 was crackling up a storm, while all other VSTs worked perfectly fine. If anyone has any thoughts as to why this is happening, please let me know. Oh, and to add this to this, I fired up Nexus 2 in Fruity Loops to give it a try, and it works flawlessly with no crackling at all. So this appears to be an issue with Nexus 2 and Sonar X3. Thanks. ~Kevin

So this cost you $249 and it's not working? I would contact the company. It say's it's a VST and comes as 64 bit so I don't see why it would not work unless it's somehow optimized for Mac users.

Thanks for replying. I did contact them. Because it was working perfectly fine in another DAW, they considered it not their problem. They didn't say it that directly, of course, but because I was able to have it work in Fruity Loops, they considered their VST to be working just fine, and that it appeared to be an issue with Sonar. So that is why I posted on here looking for anyone that may have had the same issue. Thanks again. ~Kevin

So next question, Do other VST work, Like Dim Pro and Rapture,, TTS-1?? I wonder what audio format the samples are using? It could be an unsupported sample? Just a long shot.

Kevbo Kev I went through all possible settings that I can think of.
Including buffer settings in AUD.ini?

@Cactus Music Yes, all other VSTs work fine. Nexus 2 also works. I can hear each instrument fine, but there is extreme static on every single note I play, but again, only in Cakewalk. @Scook No, I haven't tried anything in AUD.INI Any suggestions before I go tinkering around in there?

So I figured it out...........like the dummy that I am. The Nexus 2 I have is 32 bit and I was running it in the 64-bit Sonar. Fired up the 32 bit Sonar and it works fine. Just some major oversight on my part. I thought I had the correct one running. Sorry about that.

Nexus comes as 32 bit and 64 bit on the installer, You should install the 64 bit version. If you don't have that it only makes me think that you didn't pay $249. ;) Nobody should have to be running in 32 bit mode these days. That's like Windows XP.

haha Fair enough, but believe me, I do have it, and both. I guess my wording should have been different to alleviate the suspicion. So let me rephrase.....The Nexus 2 I was using on this particular computer was 32 bit, and I was running 64 bit Sonar on that same computer. I guess I could just easily install the 64 Nexus on as well, and I will, but since I had both versions of Sonar already on the computer, I wanted to fire it up and found out it worked. I got excited, and I wrote back on here. I use this laptop for gigging and have always recorded our sessions live, but now I wanted to dabble in using VSTs live. A little scary, but fun trying to figure it all out. So I am still relatively new to this, as all my recordings in the past were just voices straight off my keyboards. MIDI is really interesting to me, and apparently the sky's the limit! Thanks for all the thoughts, everyone.
