Presonus Studio 1 - Newbie culture.

I'm dealing with a voice over guy that had the audacity to send me a .song file.
Best as I could gather this is the equivalent of a Sonar .cwp. in Presonus land.
 
I went to Presonus site for the first time and got a real newbie feel from the verbiage used even when creating my Presonus account (like I want one) . After some poking around I knew I had a project file with no audio.
Ok. Training him now on all things wav & mp3 export.
 
Is it just me and my hair trigger after dealing with my VO guy?
I come back here and get a feeling that I'm back among my people again.

    I've been in Studio One land quite a bit lately.  The only real differences I've noticed is that the PreSonus site is easier to navigate, S1 still hasn't crashed or done anything to surprise me and their forums are not nearly as chatty as Cake's.
     
    It's too bad about the things that Studio One lacks that SONAR has.  I have a list of about a dozen things (guessing, it's not written down) that if borrowed from SONAR, would make S1 a serious kick-ass DAW.  Even with these short-comings, I'm finding I can get something new started and get stuff laid out much more quickly in S1.
     
    No, I haven't bailed on SONAR ... I'm just performing due diligence with my new toy.

    In an unfair test I found that I could not get a project started and in decent shape very quickly.
     
    My goal was to produce a simple guit, bass, drums, vocal and maybe piano song in a weekend.
     
    When I hit my first stumbling block and it took two hours of my time and I still did not get where I wanted I bailed and went home (SONAR). The same happened in Reaper for me.

    As Hans Zimmer wisely said the best DAW is the one you know. Why bother trying to run up a quick project in a DAW that you don't know as well as your current DAW that you know backwards.
     
    I do know Studio One and could in fact run up a project like the one  you described in seconds actually.  It is just down to the one you know and also as nicely as Craig put it too the DAW that fills your needs most exactly. And the one you connect with the most. 
     
    Be interesting to become proficient in Mixbus as well.  That is the DAW that has got me interested as a second DAW to operate. It is different enough from current DAW's. All the current DAW's mentioned are pretty much the same and do the same thing the same way.

    I nearly bought 32C in the April sale.  I was going to buy a cheap eBay  Focusrite iTrack Dock and connect my iPad to my studio but it sold before I could get to it. Missed out on both fronts.

    Just got M32C Still $99. The deal includes the upgrade at a special price I think. I think I am going to love it! Bapu you helped me make the trip. I do love it ! It is very nice. Takes me back to that fabulous M32C EQ. You can solve most of your EQ requirements just using that EQ alone.
