Quite a pleasant trip, the opening sounds a little congested to me.  If you were going for a wall of sound you achieved that though I found it a little to much.  I do wonder if some of it is over compressed and it is way to loud I had to turn it way down.

    Thanks for sharing.

At the risk of being completely hypocritical, I'd  recommend you cut the first 30 seconds of intro.

I really like your choices, and the different sonic colors in your palette make this very very listenable.

The hard-panned hi-hat is a little intrusive after a while, you might edge that down a hair in volume. The bass is tasty and that little string section feature was brilliant.

I'd give this a chilled-out "A" because your groove and mix just works for me.

Thanks Wookiee. Which part of the opening are you referring to? Do you mean the part after the distorted drums, but before that with the synth lead?

Just curious why; do you feel that it doesn't fit with the feel of the rest of the piece?

From the 22 second mark as the distorted drums enter, they sound squished to er yeah you know.

Oh, no, it completely fits the piece, rest assured. But it's also fairly simple and just long enough to where it might make the listener with a short attention span click off. This may not be your concern, and it's your song so there you go.

The trouble is, I'm probably the most guilty of doing this exact same long intro thing as anyone here. Most of my songs have ponderously long intros that are thematically intertwined with the piece to come - but I don't give a rat's rump about being commercial. I thought, for some reason, you might, so I passed along the advice I can't seem to take myself. It's mental!  :)

Probably just "projection" . . . by all means bring out the grains of salt . . . and again, cool song!

    cheers,
    -Tom

Nice piece Ant. Love the vocals.

Nice guitar solo... Is that real or VSTi? Not that it matters, it works for me...

This is a nice piece and I did like the guitar bit near the end. The drums do however sound a wee bit too squished. One suggestion you may want to think about is putting a breakdown at some point halfway through, as the piece just seems to be at one level sonic wise.

I guess I hadn't thought about it that way. I didn't really have a target audience in mind when I wrote it; I was just putting down ideas that were bouncing around in my head.

...I don't give a rat's rump about being commercial. I thought, for some reason, you might...

Probably because of the loudness I left it at; I think I just got a little carried away while playing with the maximizer in Ozone.  I don't have too high hopes for going commercial; don't get me wrong though, it would be nice to make some money from it.

    That bass line works.

There are bits in here that remind me of Enigma, but this diverges from that in buckets. That hi hat didn't translate well to Soundcloud though, which is sad.

I enjoyed the whole thing though!
