Upon closing Sonar Platinum I have to reboot to get it to open again

This has happened since I installed the latest version of Platinum several days ago and never happened before.  Is this happening to anyone else?
I assume something is still hanging on as open when I exit the program.

Any help is appreciated.

THANKS,
AB

P.S. I have a long run for almost 18 years it seems with no issues, so I am hanging in there.

This sounds like an issue with the audio interface not releasing properly when you close Sonar.

    What interface are you using?

I have the latest version on my machines and I have not had any problems.

I am using a Lynx AES16e with Lynx Aurora.  Perhaps I need to go back on the firmware on these units and drivers.
But it seems like this started to happen when I "upgraded" to the latest Platinum version.

Windows 10.  It may have updated automatically recently.  I am hoping auto updates is turned off now, but it may be too late.

I'd start by checking the driver and firmware versions and then look at when Windows Update history to see what has been installed and when.

Sometimes Sonar doesn't close completely. The next time it won't open, before rebooting, check Task Manager to see if Sonar.exe is still running in the background and end it there.

Yes - sonar.exe is running in the background still.  But this never happened before.  So shouldn't I fix it?  It is sort of a nuisance to go into task manager and stop the running of sonar.exe everything I want to reopen it.

I have a script that closes Sonar Platinum if I find the task is still running.  Of course, you would want to find out why the program won't close properly, but at least this script makes the ending of the Sonar process easier and quicker.

The line in the script that does the actual closing is as follows:

    taskkill /IM SONARPLT.exe /F

The script file itself would be a cmd file with the above therein on its own separate line.

    Windows 10 64bit fully patched, 16 gig ram .

    Internet always on.

Thanks for the script file.  I am going to roll back drivers and firmware on interfaces to see if that causes an improvement.  And perhaps see if there is a way to roll back some Windows 10 updates.  Then go for the script file if needed - but it is really nice to have that.

THANKS everyone.  This forum is awesome.  (Actually - it has value to be a Sonar user.)

Are you using any 32 bit plug-ins in the project you are working on?  Sometimes those prevent Sonar from closing properly.

I am probably using a 32 bit plugin here and there - but I was before I upgraded to the latest Platinum version and Windows 10 got updated.   But maybe the updates do not like the 32 bit plugs?

Hi deswind. Just curious. Do lynx have certified win10 drivers for the interface?
I have the same problem with my Roland VS system but I am pretty sure it's due to the drivers not officially being win10 supported. At least the problem started with win10.

I do not know if they are windows 10 certified, but I have been using windows 10 for a couple of years, and it was only the last several weeks that I had any problem.  I still cannot figure out why 256 sounds better than 512 on the asio latency.  Makes no sense to me.  And several weeks ago, I could go to 1024 without an issue.  Now it just likes 256.
