I have to reboot to get sound.

This problem just started.

I am using Sonar 3.1.1 - I use a Focusrite UBS Scarlett 1212 interface. I'm using Windows 7.

Sonar seems to be working pretty solid, as it always has. But, if I close out Sonar after doing some work and then try to re-launch it, I don't get any sound. All of my settings seem the same when it reopens - drivers seem fine. - I can see sound going through the track meters - there just isn't any sound unless I completely turn off my computer and reboot.

I have reloaded my drivers in the Scarlett - I've removed Sonar and reloaded it - still doesn't work.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance to anyone who might have any ideas.

Turn off sharing of your interface, Windows is probably trying to take control of it.

gustabo - thanks for chiming in. Do I do that in Sonar - Sonar - options > audio > advanced > share drivers with other programs? Is that what you are referring to - if so, I've tried that and it didn't help.

    Again, thank you.

Thanks gustabo, I don't see anywhere in the Properties area that allows me to turn off it's ability to share.

    Thanks again.

OK - something strange. I opened Sonar with my POD XTLive on and Sonar loaded the asio POD drives. Those drives are very low quality and don't sound good at all when playing back a song in Sonar - but, as long as I had the POD drives loaded up - I could turn off Sonar and open it back up and it worked every time. Then if I changed back to the Focusrite asio drivers - or ASIO4ALL drivers - it reverts back to having to reboot Sonar to get sound out of it again. I've updated my Focusrite and ASIO4ALL drivers - but still having this problem.

I'm guessing I've got some kind of driver problem going on?

ASIO4All has been known to mess up other ASIO drivers. Might want to remove ASIO4All if you plan on using the Focusrite ASIO driver.

Thanks scook - I just uninstalled ASIO4All - but, unfortunately that didn't help.

You may want to reinstall the Focusrite drivers now.

I unstalled the focusrite drivers and then reinstalled them and still it's not working properly.

Thanks scook for taking the time to help.

I have a very similar issue to this with my Line 6 Toneport and Sonar. All opens up fine and runs but if I play anything from web browser whilst Sonar is open or before opening it I get same thing. Also experiencing very slow opening times since upgrading to Windows 10 earlier this week.

Could you try audio from web browser once Sonar stops playing audio, in my case when looking in Sonar after the crash my Toneport is no longer listed and web browser audio plays back in slow motion with distortion effect.

The thing I found with my Focusrite. I had to set the maximum sample rate 16/96000Hz under Windows. It should be 24-bit but there you go. Your host program should set the sample rate and bit-depth. I just use the ASIO drivers designed for the interface,
