Saved project folder

When I save a project it used to be saved in a folder with the name I saved the project as in the projects directory. Now it just saves the project file in the projects folder and all of the audio goes in the audio folder.

Is there a setting that will save it to its own folder with the audio or does it have to be done manually now? I hope I explained that right!

There used to be a "per project audio" option, which I think is now the default (not sure though). The one caveat with the ability to open a new file without a name is that SONAR does not know where to put things without a name at creation, so defaults to the project/global audio folders.

As long as you enter a name when a project is created, SONAR should create a folder with the same name, default the project file there, and put audio into an "Audio" subfolder for that project.

For projects created without a name, you can do a "Save as" to a project folder, and select "Copy all audio with project" to get the per project audio setup after the fact.

Exactly, but it's just dumping each project into the same sonar project folder and all the audio into the global audio folder. Strange, it didn't use to do that. I like to record on my studio machine then take the projects to my office to mix and everything. It's just a pain looking for all of the files like this. Something always seems to be missing.

Not in front of my DAW but the setting is still there.

http://www.cakewalk.com/D...;help=Tutorial1.1.html

This is the link to Tutorial 1. It's important to grasp all the differences.

Then select Saving Project files which has the dialog box with the details you need. Especially "Copy all audio with project".
Hope that helps.

I posted the above while I looked for this info found on page 69 of the Reference Guide

To create a new project using per-project audio
1. Select File > New.
The New Project File dialog box appears.
2. Enter a filename in the Name field
The Location and Audio Path directories are automatically updated in the following format:
C:\default directory\<project name>. The default directory for new projects is assigned in Edit >
Preferences > File - Folder Locations. <project name> is the project’s per-project folder name.
C:\default directory\<project name>\Audio. The default directory for new projects is assigned
in Edit > Preferences > File - Folder Locations. <project name> is the project’s per-project folder name,
and Audio is the subfolder where your audio data will be stored.
3. If you want, rename the Location and/or Audio Path directories.
4. Click OK.
To save an existing project using per-project audio
You may have older files that are not using per-project audio folders. If you want to save these files using a per-
project audio folder, use the following procedure:
1. Open the project whose audio you want to store using per-project audio.
2. Select File > Save As.
The Save As dialog box appears.
3. If you want, change the name of your project.
4. In the Project Path field, enter the new directory where you want to save the project, or use the Browse
button to the right of the field to navigate to an existing directory.
5. Select the Copy all audio with project check box.
6. Click Save.
7. SONAR copies the project to the directory specified in the Project Path field and stores all the project’s audio
