Can I time stretch multiple tracks at once?
After giving up on AudioSnap because it keeps detecting way too many transients on my kick drum track (within a multitrack session) I thought I'd try time stretching by ctrl-shift dragging. I added all the drum tracks to a selection group and tried to ctrl-shift drag the lot for a particular cut section. Wouldn't work. I had to stretch each track individually. The result was perfect but it was a right pain having to do this to 13 tracks! Am I doing something wrong?

No, you're not doing anything wrong but yes, I agree this would be very beneficial to be able to stretch multiple clips at once. Plus that behaviour is intuitive and Windows-like. I encounter this enough times that I have been wanting to add a feature request for a while now, so here it is: http://bakery.cakewalk.co...tretch-Multiple-Tracks

" Plus that behaviour is intuitive and Windows-like." Agreed. Will check out your feature request and give it a vote :)

I am totally drawing a blank, but thought that this functionality did exist at one time (X3 maybe?) but vanished in the update cycle. Am I remembering that incorrectly?

I remember in X3 you didn't have to press ctrl-shift!

You may be doing something wrong with AudioSnap. If the kick drum is on its own track, it should be easy to generate transients at just the right places if Threshold, Resolution, and (perhaps) average tempo are set correctly.

I had attempted on a project i had transfered from analog. The drummer's tempo was all over the place so I hoped to use this feature. It did not go well. I ended up scrapping it and started from scratch. I'm hoping to fix the tempo issues after the mixdown in melodyne.

" Perhaps I'm setting it up incorrectly. I followed a tutorial that said to set the threshold to zero for the kick, snare, hat etc all the single instrument tracks and then set threshold to 100% for all the overhead/room mics etc. Am I getting too many transients because I'm setting the threshold to zero on the tom mics for example? It's picking up bleed? I'll try just setting the kick drum to zero and set the rest of the tracks to have 100% threshold...

Success! I was doing something wrong. The key here is in your choice of transients. Using just the kick and snare transients (adjusting threshold to taste) and merging the markers with the rest of the tracks (100% threshold). Have been able to tweak timing issues really rather easily. Thanks all :)

Found something: Find out how much you want to stretch by ctrl-shift drag. Make note of the amount, 105% for example, and then select all the tracks you want to stretch. Go to 'Process' - 'Length' and perform the stretch there. Works well!

Thanks for that. Another little piece of Sonar to learn. Interesting that it also includes a formant adjuster. A more intuitive way is in order for multiple track stretching as this one is rather crude and will require a lot of experimenting. So far my attempts aren't yielding desired results - tracks aren't stretching at the same rate as they should be. At this point if I want to stretch multiple tracks I'll do them individually or mix them down to a single track and stretch that one.
