For those who have submitted Themes please check their continuing compatibility.

I believe there are some GUI. changes in the PRV in this 2107/04 Early Access which will no doubt carry forward to full release 04.

Please check that your themes are still working as you intend. Some have already updated theirs, that's how I know about it.

Announcement: Cakewalk have recently given me moderator status for the sole purpose of helping Elffin manage the Software Utilities thread. It means for one, that regular forum hosts don't need to be co-opted into helping out for such minor activities as keeping the thread clean of unecessary posts etc and above all it's a vote of confidence in how important Cakewalk think the Software Utilites thread is as a community contribution. Cakewalk are very happy about the level of support and the quality of contributions. This is their small way of giving support back to us. Thanks Cakewalk.

So for a few projects on the immediate horizon. In an effort to make the Software threads a little more user friendly.

very soon we will be splitting out the themes into their own sticky thread. It should make things a little easier to find and to manage.

We'll also be bringing over the forum member tips in another thread. We'll make a further announcement shortly once all the mechanics of the process have been tied down. NOT Craig A's tip of the week but tips from other members. Eg. There's a brief tutorial that bob bone wrote on using Kontakt in Sonar with multi outputs. It does the rounds fairly often as do many others so we want to put them into a library with a table of contents.
If you have some suggestions let me know here in this thread or send me a PM.
If you have a tip, write it out so it can be understood by a noob.
More news soon. Thanks for your support

Shame we have seen no development in themes since it's release. Too many things should have been addressed whilst it was still hot out of the oven. I'm disappointed that they didn't factor that into their plan, to respond to some of the feedback.  For the huge amount of time it takes to create anything really different, there are too many niggles for me to make any real further effort.

Kinda feels like the bakery is in the same boat, release and abandon.

Yeah, theme editor feels so close to being what it should, but just falls a little short. Whoever they brought in should have been tied in a little longer to respond to the feed back. I don't think any of them were really very big to change, but the effect of them just too limiting. To go through the effort of developing a new theme requires an element of OCD, but that means these little issues feel more nagging.

Mike, Ellfin,

Glad to see this effort.  Getting user contributions organized is a great idea!!!  There is so much that can be shared.

Thanks to all for the wonderful contributions!

Can't find this, asked Bob in the release thread, but he didn't answer. Bug means I have to close the project every time I make a change. and no release data from Cakewalk isn't very helpful

Kamikaze: Please open a thread to follow up your problem. It really has nothing to do with this thread.

If I had taken the view that there have only been 13 different members submit Sonar Themes for sharing I would have figured the effort isn't worth doing anything with.

Rather I prefer to find a small way where we can stimulate input from members not only in creating themes but general tips and more utilities to make using Sonar a more pleasant and expansive experience.

If folks want to debate the effectiveness of Sonar or some feature or lack of it please take it to another thread and allow this thread to continue in harmony with the stated theme. Thanks.

Could we see about getting a whole utility section? Having just a single thread for it is a bit much and would be better to be split up.

It's a cakewolk product too, it doesn't belong under the third part 'Software'. Last time we asked for this, I belive Craig said cke were reluctant, because of their plans for the forum. I guessing this was the bakery. Well that seems a flop, and I really don't want to see it there. Just need a Subforum here IMO.

Agreed. A simple subforum would be fantastic as they are easy to navigate.

It has everything to do with this thread.

You want us to update the themes to account of the latest changes, but I can't identify the latest change in theme editor, to update it.

If cakewalk want to stimulate interest in Theme Editor, they should respond to issues that caused the stimulation to die out in the first place.

This is a me initiative not a cakewalk one. It was on my own that I got the Software Utilities thread started with the help of Karen (forum host) to implement the sticky thread, then Elffin took over from me when I was away for a year and now that I'm back I've convinced Cakewalk to make me a moderator for this forum so I have the management tools to help do a little more with the software forum than I could as a member. In all of this Elffin continues to be just as big a part as he has for the last year or more.

I'm just generally trying to make a positive contribution to the forum for all the people that have freely given of their time and talents in making programs and utilities, writing up tutorials, doing videos and more recently, themes.

Fair enough, Mudgel, good for you to take on.

I've been pondering what to do about my Themes. As it seems that themes based on Tungsten get updated with Mercury elements when new elements are created,  I'm not sure I want to maintain theme as I am not actually using them myself (but a evolution of one). Also I'm not sure anyone actually uses my re-designed Control bar. it does demonstrate the potential of theme editor well though.

Delete my purple theme (it was my first attempt and I learnt a lot making it, but it's a bit fugly)

Keep
Retro HiFi Mercury (This won't need updating unless that develop a new control bar option)
Retro HiFi Tungsten (This will grow new parts in the Mercury form)
