Sonar pricing

From the Cakewalk blog - "After your first 12 months of free updates on your new purchase of SONAR, you can buy another 12 months of updates for at least 50% off the regular price of SONAR." I have been a Platinum owner for several years, but the only option I get for updates is to pay $499 for the full product again. And yes I have put the product in my cart and at checkout the price is the same. What am I missing? Thanks.

If the store does not show the correct price, contact Cakewalk directly. There is a button at the bottom of this page to send them an e-mail.

I did send an email. Someone else recommended posting here saying the customer support has been tardy lately. Just to clarify further, I even hit the buy now button and was taken to the PayPal site, The price remained the same there, and when I hit cancel there, it sent me an email saying I had bought the product but hadn't paid yet... Yikes.

I'm curious about this too. I own Sonar Platinum. The first year I did the 12 payment system, the second year I paid for a whole year with the one time payment. The store is currently telling me that if I want to continue my Sonar Platinum membership, I pay full price for either the one time payment or monthly payments. ($499 or $49.99)....this is while I already owned two years of Sonar Platinum. Is this the right price?

They just sent a response to my email at customer support. They simply included a code so that the price is $249,50, for a year of updates. There was no mention of a code anywhere that I saw however. Neither in the blog or on the website...

It has been my experience pre-sales support questions get answered pretty fast. If I were to guess, the code is a stop gap while they work on the store.

Is there no longer an upgrade price from Sonar Producer X3? If that is the case it seems a bit harsh and my guess is that it will drive a lot of users to some other DAW. It will most likely drive me away at any rate.

Upgrade prices for older version were discontinued starting this month. There was an announcement on this forum and email sent out some time ago about the change.

The link does indeed show the new prices, however, following the normal path through the store site still brings up the full price, $499. I guess they haven't gotten around to changing it yet. There is some wording below the advert saying that 'logging in will show upgrade/renewal price" but this is still not the case .

Can you clarify what you mean by "the normal path"? Sorry if that seems like an obvious question.

The discount is only activated when clicking the purchase buttons from the http://www.cakewalk.com/Products/SONAR/Renew page

I'm not able to post screenshots here, so I will just try and describe this as best I can. I start on the page that says " Welcome to the Cakewalk store" From there I click on "Sonar Platinum (Pay One Time), under this is an orange button with "Buy Now". Below this is a line that says "Log in to see upgrade/renewal price". There is no place on this page to log in, so I click the Buy Now button to be taken to a shopping cart page. Here it identifies me by name and shows my purchase at the full $499. I click 'Next' from here and am taken to a page that says "Review your data" it has all my data, including name and address etc, but still the full price. I went one step further even than this and ended up at the PayPal site where I was still presented with the full price.

Thanks! Scook sent me a PM with some images as well that clears up some confusion.

We're working on some store updates that will make the experience much smoother in the future, but for now can you make certain you're looking up your renewal pricing / purchasing from http://www.cakewalk.com/Products/SONAR/Renew

This will handle any discounts. Unfortunately the store Catalog has not been updated to deal with this at the moment.

The Renew link posted above does not work. Changed again?

I don't think so. It worked this morning when I posted it in this thread http://forum.cakewalk.com/FindPost/3611320 and just tested it again using FireFox 53.0.3.

A new page is fine, but looking at that page there is still no upgrade path from Producer X3. You simply have to pay full price for the upgrade. This has forced me at least to start looking at alternative software that doesn't just leave their customers hanging when a version changes. I used to think better of Cakewalk.

That is correct. Support for X3 was discontinued Jan. 2016 and new prices went into effect May 1, 2017. With the new prices, upgrade discounts from older versions of SONAR were dropped. This post may be of interest regarding an upcoming promotion for X3 users.
