SugarBytes Artillery 2 and Sonar Platinum

I know this plug in has been around for quite awhile. There are online instructions to use it with older versions of Sonar.

I picked it up on a deal not long ago and decided to try it out.

It doesn't behave quite like any vst I've ever used. According to the directions  the user is to make a vst synth copy from a midi copy. I managed to do that. The rest I haven't had much luck with.

Has anyone else used this? If so, how did you use it?

I believe SBA2 was designed mainly as a DJ tool live and the daw parts of it are less well thought out.

This is how to setup Artillery2 and any FX plug-in triggered by MIDI data (ex. Stutter Edit) in X3 and newer
    1. Allow the plug-in, in this case Artillery2, to scan as an effect. There is no need to configure the plug-in as a synth although changing the FX to a synth still works and is required for X2 and older. When configured as a synth, skip three. Synths have MIDI input enabled by default.
    2. Add the plug-in to the FX rack of the track or clip to affect
    3. In the standard header above the plug-in UI click the VST2 drop down and "Enable MIDI Input"
    4. Add a MIDI track, input set to your controller, output set to Artillery2 and enable input echo

Thanks scook! This plug in has it's own audio presets but also seems to be used to mash existing audio.

Would the setup above be used for a track loaded with audio? A midi track controls the influence A2 has on the audio?

Yes, Artillery2 is an FX plug-in that may be used on any audio/aux/instrument track or bus. The effects in Artillery2 are mapped to MIDI notes allowing one to "play" the effects. Artillery2 uses CC data to change parameters. Because the plug-in needs MIDI data to trigger and control its effects, SONAR must use a MIDI track to route the data to the plug-in.
