Keeping VST CC Mappings Consistent

Hello,

I was just wondering....

I have some older VSTs that do not remember that I mapped the "Filter Cutoff" to CC #20, and I have to keep doing a MIDI learn every time I insert that synth.

I realize that if I setup a track template and insert the synth that way, it does remember them.  Is this the only way possible?

Thanks!

It's the only way unless you load your VSTi's into a VSTHost that you can then load into Sonar. Take a look at Vienna's Ensemble or Blue Cat's Patchwork.

OK thank you.  What about instead of CC, I use automation?   Can I use ACT to keep the same knobs to automation parameters each time?

I don't even have ACT setup as I always use CC, but I am thinking maybe I need to consider automation.

    Thank You!
