Frozen MIDI track will no longer Un-freeze - Freeze options grayed out

Has anyone seen this issue before? I have a MIDI drum track that I froze to improve performance while recording. Now when I try to unfreeze it, the options are grayed out. Any known fixes for this? The other frozen tracks un-freeze just fine.

I am planning on deleting and re-recording but I would love it if I could recover the track!

cant say I have seen this but im guessing its either a bug or..
Is it possible the track/clip is locked and cant be unfrozen until that data is unlocked ?
Try pressing K while focus is on the clip of that track.
    K will toggle- lock/unlock data

One way to get the MIDI data back:
    • Save the project as a MIDI file
    • Create a new MIDI track in the project
    • Import the MIDI file back into the project

I had this happen once, long ago (like SONAR 7, maybe). I just deleted the audio track, inserted a new one and routed the MIDI track (which I had not deleted) to the new audio track. If the MIDI track won't play because SONAR still things it's frozen, create a new MIDI track and CTL-drag the MIDI data from the old into the new.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

Thanks for the suggestions. Unfortunately, I use simple tracks and do not have a separate MIDI track of which I am aware. It just seemed to be less clutter with it all on one track. Now I see the benefit of separating that out. I will give these suggestions a shot when I get home. Thanks everyone!

You may be able to split the instrument track, If that fails, the method described in msg#3 works with instrument tracks.

I would think you can still split an Instrument track after it's been frozen. But I don't know that for sure, as I don't use Instrument tracks. Too much trouble just to save 1/4" of screen space.

Yes, frozen instrument tracks may be split. They also may be thawed. I am not sure what is going on with this project so I assumed the worst case.

I've had this happen to me a few times.  Even though the track was in focus the unfreeze was grayed out.  I simply selected a different synth from the browser and then re-selected the correct synth and then the un-freeze was no longer grayed out and I was able to un-freeze.

Great suggestions everyone. I was able to right click on the track and select "Split the instrument track". That un-froze the track and everything is fine now.

Thanks again for all of the suggestions
