Have you ever...

Been experienced?

As of today, you've had 50 years to. This gem was released on this day, half a century ago.

I'd never actually heard Hendrix until the late 80's when we finally got cable and Musique Plus (the equivalent of MTV) was airing videos of his songs.

And even 20-some years later, I was floored when I first heard Are You Experienced...

Never saw him live ... but yep ... was there and bought the album 3 days after I heard it on the radio ... the song? ... "Purple Haze".

Music is not about notes and chords! My poem is not about the computer or monitor or letters! It's about how I was able to translate it from my insides!

I never really thought it changed anything ... the only thing that was happening at the time, is that the media and the press were on a tear ... already ... about the whole scene and the hippies, and the drugs and the blacks and the greens and the foos and the boos and the toos ... you name it, and it created more friction than was necessary and even in school ... still today, my High School in Madison WI does not list the graduates for our year ... because the two ladies in charge hated them bad people and ... the whole thing is sick!

My lasting image of Jimi, is one of the saddest things I have ever seen in my sights ... Jimi playing the national anthem and it's in front of garbage ... and then we **** and moan about someone going down on his knees instead ... the hypocrisy involved is totally amazing and how much we really care ... is all right there.

We are so confused ... that "experience" ... is a joke, then as it is now. But we don't get it, do we? And we thought that drugs helped us learn it ... yah ... right! I'm sure that Jimi saw right through it ... at that moment!

Music is not about notes and chords! My poem is not about the computer or monitor or letters! It's about how I was able to translate it from my insides!

Maybe there are Pedro clones?  That would explain a lot...

One of my major misses was missing Jimis concert in Helsinki when he was still a new and rising star.
I think it was the same year I missed Cream as well. Sigh.

SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre  -  Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc.
The benefit of being a middle aged amateur is the low number of years of frustration ahead of you.

Good thing Hendrix and Clapton never amounted to anything, eh?
