The Mackie MCU Pro dim display syndrome
My MCU pros display faded to oblivion after about a year(which according to posts on the webs, is about its life span. This is my second display to die, the first one was one a demo unit from sweetwater that lasted 3 weeks, they replaced the MCU with a brand new unit. I found a place in Germany that sells EL displays mine cost $26 with shipping via Deutches Post pretty quickly. Had to take out 432 screws to get to the EL panel, but went easy. The only caution is you have to heat sink the leads when soldering to prevent damage to the panel. Buttoned it up and now back to a bright blue display. I think I will order two more as backup spares for the pro and the expander. So if your handy with tools and a soldering iron it beats sending it off(unless ur in warranty)

Thanks. I might look into getting a spare as well.

Wow, I still have the MCU from back in the day and it works well. The only thing I had to do with it was spray slightly inside of the faders to keep them calibrated. I haven't received the failed calibration message since I used the CAIG DeoxIT Fader spray.
