WASAPI not working Sonar Artist

Hi,
 
I had a little fiddle with it but Sonar's WASAPI is not working in shared mode, it does work on this machine. Just not in Sonar.

    Which version (month) of SONAR are you running? Can you be more specific about what error you are running into and your PC configuration?

    I installed it two days ago, so it's the latest "Artist" version. I'm on a 64bit Win7 machine with working WASAPI.
    One thing I noticed was that there is no slave setting for the samplerate in Sonar, basically I don't know what my device "Saffire 6" is doing with direct sound.

    Here are the setup instructions for a Focusrite Saffire 6 https://www.cakewalk.com/Support/Knowledge-Base/Audio-Hardware-Setup-Guide?productId=CSAR100&audioDeviceId=248. If you have a different device try one of the other audio device option in the drop down.

    Correct, the preferred driver mode for that interface.

    I'm talking about WASABI!!, It's not recording.. But forget it, nothing I want to do actually works in this program..
    Can put a lot of hooks in there but they are not going to fix the fact.

    j/k, WASAPI and AISO are both driver models that your DAW, Windows, etc., use to communicate with your audio interface.   You can switch between them in the Preferences dialog, choosing whichever is best suited.     WASAPI seems to be a good option for on-board sound, but for interfaces that offer good ASIO drivers I'm not sure what advantage there would be to use WASAPI instead.
     
    FWIW, I'm also running Windows 7 but with an 18i6 interface (Focusrite).  I tried the WASAPI drivers just to see, and while they worked they simply weren't as "robust" as ASIO.

    The greatest WASAPI improvements were made for Windows 10.

    Otherwise, better stick with ASIO ...
