We got insensitive middle-aged and old people as well.
Also The Sun, a Rupert Murdoch-owned so-called "newspaper" that's as sensitive, tasteful, balanced and truthful as any other "news" outlet Murdoch owns.

I don't think it's just the UK & US that's affected, it's a worldwide 'sensitive' epidemic.......more so in well developed urban areas.

I have personally seen just how untruthful The Sun is. Many years ago I had a friend in the army and a friend of his was caught selling hashish to the other squaddies in his barracks. It was pretty small time stuff - buying an ounce here and there and passing it on at cost to his friends so that they could all enjoy a smoke. The Sun newspaper got wind of it, and the next thing you know there's an article along the lines of "MASSIVE DRUG RING SMASHED AT ARMY BARRACKS" which went into great detail about how his "superiors became suspicious when he started driving around in a brand new Jaguar" etc. It was hilarious until you realized that the same level of honesty goes into everything they print.

Oh and speaking of newspaper dishonesty in general, sometime in the late 90's I was stopped in the street by a reporter for my local rag in Newcastle, and they asked me my opinion of some uninteresting story to do with new trade union laws or something. I told him that I really didn't have an opinion, and he said that's fine, we can put that in since it's just as valid as having an opinion. So they took my photo. I opened up the paper the next day to see my ugly mug on the page, underneath which was a caption that read "I feel this is one step further to another Nazi Germany." Have to admit, that made me laugh.
