Travel Down the Highway - colab with Daryl1968

Vocals  & Drums - Daryl,
Guitars  & Keyboard & Bass - Bobby.

This is a song that I wrote many years ago. I never thought it would be finished, for one reason is that I never had any help, while I try to sing, I just can't. Daryl offered his help and this is the result.

Thank you Daryl! I thought what you added and mixed with this song turned out great!

Thanks to all who listen and I hope you enjoy hearing this as much as we did recording and playing this music!

This is a song about not spending your life in a bubble and getting out and seeing the world before your too old to do so, NO REGRETS!

Bobby

Love the "jangling" guitars.
The snare is popping, serious envy here!
Very solid!
I'd bring the vocal up a bit, but that's a "taste" thing; its all good.
Brought a big smile to my face!

There was a band in the 70's I truly loved called The Records. This is the band that started the career of Jude Cole. This song reminded me of them. Well done track.

Bobby and Daryk me mate!  this was just incredible!  I guess I go into a song from you Bobby, expecting a certain sound - usually a lot harder rock, this is more classic rock with a little bit of pop sounding in it.

guitars were really nice.  daryk - vox are awesome as usual!

Re: Travel Down the Road - colab with Daryl1968 2017/06/04 21:24:19 (permalink)
Sorry for the slow reply every, I've been out of town for a couple of days.

Thanks to everyone who took the time to listen and reply! That means a lot!

Tom Deering, Thank you for taking the time to listen and reply. Daryl did the mix, so that would be up to him. LOL, I am without a doubt no mix master.

Bjorn, Thank you for the kind compliments and taking the time to listen and reply. I played all of this on a Epiphone Les Paul Special II. I like it, it has a small neck ratio and it's pretty good for rock.  Thanks again.

Daniel, Thank you for taking the time to listen and comment! I'm glad you liked it. I don't listen to the radio anymore and I don't get on social media sites because everything is all propaganda and negative stuff. I wrote this song a long time ago about life, it's easy to dwell on the negative things if you don't pay attention and lose sight of what matters the most, and that is the gift you have been given by being alive and having a choice. That's what Traveling down the road about, and I hope it's a positive message to anyone who listens. Thanks again.

Jamesg1213, Thanks! It really inspires me to hear all these positive vibes on the comments like yours. I quite playing music altogether for many years, 20 or so, even though I'm no pro or nothing like that, but the reason I quite is the heyday of hair metal and everyone wanted to make music as some kinda rip it up contest. But for me it's always been about the song, because expression with a song is an art itself, in my opinion anyway and hearing a song is like a painting with sound. LOL CRAzY TALK EH? But I'm sure, all us players are crazy I guess, in a good way. Thanks again!

Philz, Thank man! You've got some great tunes and I am sorry I haven't replied to your tunes and everyone else's on here at times, I'm just busy and sometimes listening is all I can do. Thank you for taking the time to listen and reply. I really like the encouragement that I have seen lately on the forums. I don't view music as a contest, or that is who can play the fastest or loudest or scream the highest or anything like that. I'd rather just write songs and express my feelings the best I can. Thank again!

Beagle/Reece, THANK YOU!!! I've been a fan of your vocals and music for a while!!! Thanks man for taking the time to listen and reply!!! I am not really a hard rock guitarist although I can play that stuff sometimes, the type of songs I write are like this one, kinda Bryan Adams style and John Mellancamp type of stuff, more pop and Hard rock. Although I try either way. Thanks again!

Wookie, Thank you for taking the time to listen and comment, Daryl did the mix, and I AM GLAD OF THAT!!! I am too impatient to mix things, so I am glad he handled all that, it made things a lot easier and turned out better no doubt. Thanks again!

Daryl, THANK YOU!!!! It turned out better than I could have ever imagined no doubt about that!!! Anytime you want to work on anything collaboration or need guitars just let me know and I'll try!!! Thanks man!!!!

Thank you all!!!  I really had a whole lot of fun working with Daryl on this tune, more fun than I can remember playing music for a long while, it was a ton of fun working with someone like Daryl who took the time to actually listen to what I was doing and had to say.

Thanks everyone!!!

Nice job, chaps!    It's odd hearing Daryl singing over more of a classic rock type vibe, but ya know what?  It works great!  That's some really nice playing there, Bobby, great combination of chiming rhythm and rippin' leads.

Thanks for taking the time to listen and reply with the kind compliments!

As for the mix, that would be up to Daryl. A lot of people here on the forums think that Rock/Hard Rock vocals should be buried in the mix a bit, but I dunno because I'm no mix master. Balance perhaps? I really don't know.
If Daryl wants to re-mix and raise the vocals a bit that's up to him. I thought it turned out better than I could have ever done myself so I have no crits.

Hey Bobby , Darryl ,
You don't have to bump it this time . I'm bumping it because I think the tone of the song is worth it.
Yes  gentlemen , this song came out really good ...
I liked the songs message ...I've been sort of shut down these days and the songs message served as a good reminder to get back out there and do some living while I still have the time and the means too.
The music and the mix is spot on . I enjoyed the type of tones you guys used for the guitars , drums and vocals ...
Yep , this is a very  professional sounding song collab

all the best,

Kenny

Oh Yeah , Life is Good .

I play a "Gibson " R 8 Les Paul Cherry Sunburst .
