SPLAT Not Seeing Guitar Rig Pro

Hey Folks

NI is having a summer sale and I decided to upgrade the Guitar Rig LE version that came with Sonar and get the full pro version.

Install went well. It took the serial number and activated. It opens and works in stand alone.

I added the folder the new pro version is in to the vst scan options in Sonar, and did a scan, but, no Guitar Rig Pro shows in my plugin list.

I didn't uninstall the LE version because I didn't think that was necessary.

Any ideas?

Try changing your plug in manager lay outs.
Also make sure the Guitar rig DLL. is located and being scanned in the plug in folder.
Your Guitar rig LE might have been installed to the correct location but maybe the upgrade wasn't.

Hey thanks. I suppose maybe the Guitar Rig .exe file is in a different folder than the .dll

I'll change the folder in the vst options and scan again and see if that was it.

Just checked here...the dll path is c:\program files\native instruments\vstplugins 64\guitar rig 5.dll.

Add "c:\program files\native instruments\vstplugins 64" to the plugin manager's search paths and re-scan.

You can also just grab the DLL and copy it to your VST folder.
That's what I've done in the past.

I used to do that, too. For years. Not just for NI plugs, but also Melda and FabFilter and everybody else who likes to claim their own special places on my disk drive. It just struck me as annoyingly untidy to have files scattered all over the place.

But then I'd sometimes end up with duplicates after updates if ever I forgot to move them, sometimes going months before noticing that a plugin was out of date. It's just so much easier to surrender, let the vendors put files wherever they want. Installs go more quickly and smoothly with fewer complications.

Been so long I *thought* that installer prompts for the VST install paths. Most do, so going forward, bear that in mind; regardless of program path, you want to install VSTs to a folder/subfolder scanned by SONAR when possible (makes life simpler down the road).

ASUS ROG Maximus X Hero (Wi-Fi AC), i7-8700k, 16GB RAM, GTX-1070Ti, Win 10 Pro, Saffire PRO 24 DSP, A-300 PRO, plus numerous gadgets and gizmos that make or manipulate sound in some way.

This is where mine was also. This did the trick.

Thanks all!
