How could I create a Master Chain in Sonar Pro?

Hi, I am just looking to add that "a bit louder" effect with the master chain, you know it seems I can only find that effect on a template, because I tried to add a bus or whatever but that wasn't right, so I'm just asking how to add a Master Chain

Thanks

once you take all your tracks and mix them down to a 2 track stereo file, Import that file back in to sonar (I typically use a new project/cuts down on resources) Then it all depends on what you have for plug ins. if you are using all sonar plug ins then you'll have to round up the best ones you have. If you have other plug ins like Waves, exc then your options are a lot better. My typical mastering chain looks like this:

My Mastering Chain consists of:
1-The SSL Bus compressor first.
1.5- then sometimes followed by the CA-2A for Analog coloring= a 1 to 1.5 db push / very subtle.
2- Linear EQ to drop off/filter APPROX 30HZ and under.
3- Then the L3.
4- Followed by the L2.
5- Some  more light Analog coloring.
6-The Secret sauce.

I also (personal opinion) Insert my mastering chain in the Tracks FX.
This way I can use the Master bus for Metering tools. IMO, it just makes a cleaner area to work in.

If it's only a "bit louder" that you are looking for and no tonal differences, eq , compressor, widener etc.  Then all you need is a limiter on your master buss.
When you say add a master chain, are you saying how to just pull up a mastering chain preset? Or are you talking about creating one and saving it?
And by the way, Chucks suggestion is a great place to start.

Putting a limiter in the FX bin on your master bus will make your mix louder. Try Boost 11 or the new Adaptive Limiter (if you have a subscription) and try some of the presets. If you add any other FX on your master bus, make sure they are placed before the limiter. You can drag and drop to change the order, if necessary.

I was actually thinking the same thing myself.
I just don't know if Sonar Pro got the Adaptive limiter. But wow, what a great plug in that is.
Kudos to Cakewalk for a great new update. This is the best one I've seen in a while.

You and Kingsmix present good ideas to just make the mix louder.
I tend to complicate things a bit

Well, I like seeing what other people's mastering chains look like, so I appreciated it. Yours is pretty consistent with what I've seen other professionals use.

The online docs and update/release forum sticky say Pro and Platinum for the new limiter, so I'm assuming current subscribers and new customers as of June 1 will get it.

I agree, it's a great addition.

You can set SONAR to open more than one project at a time, so can copy/paste from the template to your project. Not sure specifically what you are speaking of however?

That said, the "little louder" is predominantly a limiter as mentioned above. It is good practice to run a limiter on a master buss set way high to catch overload conditions from rogue plugs before they hit your main outs and blow your head off (safety net); but you can also use that to get a feel of things while mixing. As chuckebaby said, I master as a separate workflow (not mixing down that limiter), but another reason to test prior is because in the mastering stage it is difficult to "unmix" anything. You want your mix as final as possible first.
