Installing Triple Play software ..... with questions
I am about to install my Fishman Triple Play software and wondering if I can simply use my NI and Sample Tank 3 stuff or in addition to the Fishman versions. Apparently, you have to use theirs for it to work.
Has anyone gone around or beyond this limitation? I am wondering if I can install as per Fishman's "plan", but also include all kinds of other programs that I have.
I'm seeking some "been there, don't do that, better do this" type advice......

Been there ... for the sake of sanity, let it install the Sample Tank stuff. The existing NI software was found and worked fine without installing the Fishman provided version.
I contacted TP support about getting an existing ST installation to work and he gave me some steps. I lost interest before following them. I'll post them if I can find them.

This won't mess up your current installation, but it will do an update to your full version of ST3 that improves stability in our build (not sure ST has released it to the public yet) and also install the sound libraries necessary for TP factory default patches.
Then you can install 1.4.50. Then you'll be good to go."

Thank you Bob! My Kontakt Player is newer than theirs.... so that is a relief.
I would like to use TP with my other VSTi's, so anything else is very much appreciated!

The only problem with ST is using their presets. It's not a problem to create your own using your existing ST installation. That's the reason I lost interest. That and I decided I prefer a keyboard for MIDI  My TP isn't getting used.

I've done keyboard midi with my Kurz K2500 since 1999 (Roland & EPS & Alesis in the '80s & '90s). I want to find out if my much superior guitar skills(almost 54 years Pro) produce better "keyboard" parts.
It ought to be an interesting experience at least! LOL
The East West stuff definitely got my enthusiasm up!

Nothing wrong with the idea at all. What I found was that playing MIDI on a guitar requires a much different technique than playing guitar on a guitar. As I was interested in actually developing some keyboard chops anyway, I decided to put the time into the keyboard.
The TriplePlay is really a fantastic piece of kit. The app and plug make synth layering a breeze. I'm sure you'll enjoy the heck out of it.

I've played keys for almost as long as guitar, though I am not as disciplined about it (as I was as a teen). I love to doodle daily on my Kurz K2500 and with each new tune that I might learn on mandolin, lap steels(E and C6th), or guitar, I'll "transfer" that to keyboard, too. Still any nuanced flourishes "required" for a tune, are immediate on guitar, whereas they'll take some practice on keys.
Maybe I'm less patient, nowadays! LOL
I've downloaded all the components and hope to get it all installed today.

Please post back with your thoughts on it when you get a chance to get it all tweaked. I lost a bunch of hours just playing around with my TP with a big smile on my face.

I just installed the FTP SW, not NI or ST. I haven't had any problems using it with other vendors - Omnisphere, Alchemy, Reaktor, and so on, although I don't use the FTP much.

I use my TriplePlay most the time as a simple MIDI device. I don't open up the software very often. I did just buy an East West Guitar MIDI pack and have been using it in Play some and in the TP software. Just getting in to it so cant report much. I got the Guitar/Bass pack.

Thanks BassDaddy I would really like to jump on this week's deal and get the East West Orchestral one. I've watched the videos on all 5 packs.
Say, does yours have an upright? Acoustic 12 string? I don't recall.... probably ought to watch them again. I'm primarily a guitarist with a nice assortment of guitars, lap steels, mandolins, baritones, banjo and fiddle (learning to play that one or rather, work the bow!), so that one seems "peripheral" but I can't imagine it being useful. I have AAS Strum 2 full and IK American acoustic BTW.

I've tried to Run as Admin the SampleTank for TP, several times and even extracted the files twice to see if that might be the problem.
I get a message that says "that page can't be reached" and even the Refresh Page option does nothing...
Any suggestions?
I have installed the NI, Progression and Studio One, stuff, so far. I assume I'm supposed to install Triple Play after the Sample Tank 3.

Is this during ST install, or running after ST has been installed? Yes, the TP software should be last in order to get the presets set up during TP install.

I can't seem to install the Sample Tank stuff from the Extracted ST Fishman download.
I do already have Sample Tank 3 from IK, but am trying to install all the various Triple Play options from Fishman
So I'm extracting the ST3 files then I try to "Run as Admin TriplePlay Startup" (Page can't be found) and that's probably not what I'm supposed to do.
The TriplePlay Startup app is there and a content folder> 2 more folders > html and software
That software folder has 2 common with a Zipped SampleTank3 Sounds
and a win folder with install Sample Tank application

I'm still sorting out the IK side of things. Since I went 64 bit in 2012 with both laptop and then desktop, I've not been installing anything 32 bit, but it seems the only way to get these IK Triple Play presets is to do the SampleTank 32 bit in addition to the 64 SampleTank3 .
Any comments on that? BTW I have my IK (and almost all other) library on a separate "library" drive. Should I put the 32 bit IK ST there, too? or on my C (plenty of room)?

Comments? My only comment is, "yuch." You would think these guys would've put together some presets for a standard ST3 installation by now. I keep all of my libs/content on a separate drive too. I think location is purely personal choice considering how you manage your storage. Thanks for going thru this. Please post back the steps if you get it working cleanly. I might go ahead with it too.
