OK I tried to look at the video but its private and I'm not logging on to Google to view a video. But, how about listing the type of audio interface and what version of Sonar and anything else that you should detail? The steps you are doing to record?

I switched it to Public. I set it to private b/c I thought people could see the link but it would not be more widely available on YouTube. Anyway... it's public now. Thanks John.

If you start a new project at 44.1 / 24 bit from a blank with 1 audio track in it does it work?

No, it doesn't the behavior is identical. I've even restarted the computer to make sure there was no lock on the audio driver.

Have you tried a system restore to a time before the problem began?
If this were on my system I'd restore my last good Macrium Reflect image of the OS partition.

Thanks for the suggestion Steve_Karl. I'm not rushing to a system restore. I did try rolling back and rolling forward the version of Sonar. I'm able to record using RME DigiCheck. Everything else on my system seems fine.

Hello. Did you take a look at the "Auto Punch" settings in preferences? That may have been enabled by mistake from measure 1 to 1. Just a thought.

hey Gswitz, can't tell you the solution excactly from simular thing had while ago with my Sonar and RME. must have been something with having another programm open that uses the audio drivers combined with recent changes to sample rates or bit depths iirc. Would just restart the computer, leave off the RME mixer screen and start a new Sonar project and should be ok. Nothing to worry about imo, just a software conflict with multiple bit depths/sample rates/programms etc if I"m correct.

Gswitz Open the Cakewalk Control Center (CCC) on your desktop and select SONAR with your right mouse button. Of the several options given as context menus, select rollback and then choose the installed Sonar version to which you want to rollback. Sonar will then roll back to that previous version. Begin testing to see if you can record again. IF you can record and perform other functions properly then go back to the CCC and select the newest version of sonar you want to re-install such as the 05_17 version.

Removing my AlphaTrack from the control surfaces section fixed the problem. I didn't have the AT plugged in, but it was set up in Midi > Control Surfaces.

It's always something so simple, yet because we don't give it any thought, it becomes a HUGE problem when trying to fix the issue. I'm glad you found out what the problem was.
